Garbage. Rented an economy car. They didn't have it. Gave us the next one up. The car absolutely reeks of death or something. We got the insurance they offered because we weren't sure if our normal policy covered rentals. The lady at the desk said we could cancel the insurance at any time. Just call and cancel. Horrible employee training. Treating customers with dishonesty and disrespect. The first time we called, the agent said he will book It for us. Called 1 week after to confirm and there was no reservation. Thanks to him we missed our best price. The second time-the agent claimed the pickup location in Asheville airport is not open as our plane arrived. Then we realized the location is wide open as we got there at 12am. Worst possible outcome in a rental. The agent insisted that I had rented an EV. I didn't; I told him how unprofessional he was. But when I asked what his name was, that is when he told me he would put me on a mo rental list! The company upheld that decision without hearing my case or even telling me what the charge was! Tonia ***** sent me a Email saying that Jiffy Lube is not servicing Avis vehicles no more. I Have the Email still. To take the Avis vehicle to Pepboys for service. I showed Pepboys the Email and they copy the Email to get A PO# for the oil change and 2 tires that the Avis car needs. I made a reservation for my LA trip on Avis with cost estimated around 500. Upon arriving in LA, the customer service was very slow, and waited for about 2 hours to talk to a rep. Upon quickly signing a bunch a document, I noticed the cost was much higher, and the rep said he added "GAS SVC OPTION" there, and I told him I did not need it. Avis allows their system to reserve a car that doesn't exist and will charge your card if you select the prepaid option. This what happened, I made a reservation on their web site, selected prepaid and it went through with no problem, 10 minutes later I received a call telling me they had no cars available, I asked them to give a refund and the person said they could not do that, call customer service. Reserved online and picked up at Atlanta, GA airport location. Had reservation, but still waited in line for almost 2 hours to receive car. Given unsafe car to drive. When driven at 65mph or higher, steering wheel would severely shake (not like needing alignment--perhaps bad front tire or tire rod). Called road side help 5 times on 8/20/22-NEVER got assistance. It is obvious from the numerous complaints below that a pattern of deceitful practices and fraud pervades Avis' business model. Like many complaints below, mysterious charges appeared on our credit card after renting a vehicle in Oslo, Norway (August 8th-12th). We paid $667 for the initial rental, $100 deposit, and $60 for insurance. Three days after returning the vehicle, Avis charged an additional $511. No explanation was offered.
