Will never rent from this company again. Prepaid for a car rental for 10 days when my father died unexpectedly. A week later I tried to shorten my reservation so I could return home early (as I would need to travel back to AZ at a later date to wrap up more affairs). AVIS car rental, SAN FRANCISCO Airport. 6 MONTHS WAITING FOR damage charges after smash and grab in SF, several windows broken lots of items stolen. Made several phone calls to Avis, transferred several times to claim dept, damage dept, customer service, roadside assistance, Sedgwick, Budget. No one able to help. Case still in review. Come on, you can't give me an estimate to repair the windows on the car?! Now I'm having trouble renewing car insurance because this case has been open for 6 months!! RIDICULOUS!

Worst experience ever with a rental car company. I will never use Avis/Budget ever again. Prepaid for a rental for 10 days while my car was having body work done so I could be reassured to have a vehicle for work. The work was completed in 4 days which is totally out of my control. Returned the car and asked about a refund and "corporate policy" is that none of a prepaid rental is refundable--EVER. No attempt to work with me at all. Lost a customer for life. I rented a car from Atlantic City, NJ to Fort Lauderdale / Hollywood Airport. The employee in Atlantic City had given me an upgrade to an SUV. I asked if he wanted to doan inspection with me and he said we didn't have to so I did one myself and everything was ok. I made my trip down I95 and I return the rental on time at the airport. Complete scammers! I rented a car from the airport in April 2022. The day I picked up the car the lady quoted me the dates and price. I told her the dates were wrong. It should be returned a day earlier than she stated. She updated in her system, yet my rental price did not change. Then the day of return, my daughters flight was delayed so I requested to return the car 2 hours later. To keep the vehicle 2 extra hours I was charged the equivalent of a 2 day rental. The worst possible experience I have ever had with a rental company. The amount of money they have charged for being 30 minutes late due to unforeseen circumstances and the unavailability of any possible sign of where the Avis office would be in the airport is just incredible. $78..75 for being late and on top of it they charged me for loss and damage waiver and insurance which I took for one day and they automatically added that charge to my bill without my consent. This is the last time I'm ever going to use Avis ever.

Avis Italy charged me for windshield damage after my rental. Avis International customer service received my photographic evidence (taken at time of rental and clearly showing the preexisting damage) but after months of waiting for them, and repeated attempts by me to get a response, they simply told me I could call the little office in Italy that made the charge and plead with them directly to remove it. So much for their role as "customer service."

We rented a car in April 2022 at the Orlando International airport. We dropped it off at the end of April and did a full inspection inside and out and there was no damage. I received a letter today (Oct 17 2022) saying they will be charging me $500 for some alleged glass damage - six months after the rental! I received a car with a dirty windshield at the *** ********* New York, NY XXXXX location. A man called Jordan, who claims to be the manager, insisted that the car was clean, even though I showed him the windshield smeared with bird feces. He said his staff always did a good job and this was something the car cleaning system could not get.
