I rented a car from AVIS at Boston's Logan Airport. ********* had quoted me 2200 for a two week trip. At the counter everything seemed fine although I was never shown the summary, or sign anything or initial any documents. They emailed me the receipt. I booked an online rental ahead of our trip to the south at the Atlanta Airport Avis location. I check the reservation and reminder emails multiple times before departing for my trip to make sure I had everything but when I got to the counter, the man INSISTED that a new law was passed in February that required that we had proof of our own personal car insurance or else we would be forced to buy their insurance to leave with a car that day. Not the employee or locations fault, but they charged me $135 for an additional day. My bill went from $167 to $305 for 3 days. Not to mention for a QUARTER TANK i got charged $35. To top it off 4% taxes on top of 8% Philly taxes. They were not clear with fees and im disputing this as well. Also, my initial point was to rent the car to PURCHASE and they use a SCAMMING COMPANY called TRESL telling me i would get my refund, wholetime they wanted me to MAIL OUT a $25k check are they INSANE ? It was actually horrible. We reserved online and when we got to the rental station, it was all messed up. There a small up charge to straighten it out which I accepted. However, when I dropped the car off, there was even more charges. They guy simply said that I dropped it off a day late, which I did not, and I would have to call to request a refund. I recently made reservation on line for a pick up at the Phoenix airport. When I arrived the agent insisted we purchase options for insurance, gas, etc. The agent indicated if we prepaid for gas and brought the car back 3/4 full, they would only charge me for the difference. ( this did not happen) While in Scottsdale we only traveled from the hotel to restraunts and back. The most we traveled is about 50 miles in all. Avis is terrible. I don't know how many times you have to read it but they are the worst. I reserved my vehicle but the location was run by just one person (working the counter, cleaning cars, receiving cars). I felt bad for him because he was so overwhelmed. He did extend my vehicle for an extra week but the hold went from $200 to $533. Then they tried to run it again for $314 and then $452....on and on. Eventually my CC put a block on all charges because they were so frequent and maxing out or trying to go over my limit. I... read more

Flight from atl to tampa canceled due to hurricane Ian. Needed to rent a car to get home to my wife and kids. Due to the fact that the airport AND Avis store is closed I am unable to return the car on time They will not wave this additional charge and are adding on additional late fees WOW. What else can I say. What a horrible company especially in such a critical time

We will NEVER rent from them again. Our van had a myriad of issues. One seat belt didn't work in the back of the van. The backseat kept popping out so it was not secure. The windshield weather stripping was loose and flapped until we duct taped it down. Protecting our family of 10 was incredibly stressful. I personally don't write reviews however I felt this review was necessary. In August 2022 our pickup truck developed mechanical problems while over 500 miles away from home. We had our vehicle towed to the nearest dealership. I was informed days later that the parts needed for repair were back ordered. My wife caught a flight home and days later I rented a vehicle from Avis at the RDU airport. I made my reservation and prepaid on line. I was given a minivan with a expired inspection sticker.
