What a horrible company! I paid for the insurance and roadside assistance when I rented a car from them in San Francisco. That process in itself was awful but the car got broken into and we called roadside assistance. They said they couldn’t do anything until we filed a police report. Avis/Budget tried to scam us from the pick-up counter till a month after returning our rental. From trying to oversell us on our rental choice because of sea level elevation to trying to charge us for a new windshield six weeks after the rental was over with the work-order for the windshield dated weeks after we returned the vehicle. Totally smarmy scam artists trying to screw you at every turn. Zero stars or negative stars would be more accurate. Thieves.

Reserved a large SUV in the Bozeman Airport Avis and received a small Chevy Equinox instead, with no consideration for a discount or upgrade. Passengers had to ride with luggage in our lap. Ruined our vacation. The car was dirty and made awful noises, as well. Horrible experience. Will never rent from Avis again.

The car we got from the airport first was extremely smokey. The car the worker took us to next was a class below what I paid for and had a lot of safety issues (along with very annoying things). Y’all literally did it again!!! A freaking again!! Another $303 charge that is pending that y’all have proved that’s not mine that has my account again in the negatives!!! It’s the holiday weekend and I am BROKE AND CANT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THIS IS PENDING!!! Terrible company. Would not accept my visa platinum card that I've used to rent cars from them for 15 plus years. Employee at independence Missouri location is awful at best and their customer service people are rude hateful and uselesss
Did two rentals in Spain in April. Avis has a new policy where they charge you for a full tank of gas when you pick up the car. It was about 80 euros. When I brought back the car, both times, the tank as full. The attendant stated that they would refund me the money in 5-7 days. Nothing ever occurred. I tried to call them. You cannot get through to any of the numbers listed. They are busy. So, I disputed this with the credit care company. Be careful, they tend to rush through the process.

I will never use this company again. After renting a vehicle for a week with no problems, I received a letter 30 days after return that there was 'tire damage' and my card would be charged. The company would not provide any tangible evidence that said damage was incurred during the term of my rental. After an exchange via email, I received two emails that stated my card would not be charged, but my card was charged the day after. I had to file a dispute with my credit card. Fraudulent actions. AVOID AVIS LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!! My wife had the worst customer service experience of her life with Avis. She first received a vehicle with a heavy cigarette smoke smell at the downtown Dayton location and there were no other vehicles at the location for her to swap.
