Absolutely ridiculous! I booked through priceline for the rate of $62.40 for July 1st at 11;30pm. My flight was 2 hours late, therefore putting me as picking up the car on July 2nd and with that they changed the fee for the rental to $174.13. I STILL had to have the car back to the rental agency at 11:30 am, so I had the car for a total of ten hours and they charged me $111.00 extra because I picked up late???? I called Avis and was offered a whopping 25% of the $111.00 I was overcharged, are you kidding me?? I asked three t... read more

A+ COMPANY? H..ell NO! CROOKS......... CROOKS........ CROOKS Just got ripped off by AVIS. Made a reservation, paid for it....originally thought I would need it for 5 days but came back 1 day early. Took it in before the 24hr period only to be told I did a "pre-pay" and therefor can't get a refund...... Normally prepay means something good, in AVIS' view it means they don't give refunds if you bring it in early.... I JUST GOT CHARGED $84 (about) FOR A CAR I AM NOT DRIVING!!!!! Discriminated by employee behind counter on 7/5/23 “Loren the Marketing Director” as he identify himself refused to rent to me because he was being a complete jerk( yes an a@$) because I showed up an hour early for pickup. Then when I returned and hour later refused to rent car to me that would be more appropriate for my needs and told me because I used ( a single word “a@$” to describe him) he would not rent to me and would keep ALL AVIS and affiliates from renting to me. Beware! As if it weren't enough that the car I rented (and paid for a month in advance) smelled like human sweat, I'd barely had it two hours before the maintenance light came on. Upon calling it in and being on the phone for an hour of my vacation time, the Avis rep said my choices were either to risk driving it in the downpouring rain to the nearest Avis car rental facility or hop in the tow truck that would eventually be sent for the car and get a ride to Avis. I tried to find my original post to add an update, but couldn't. So here it is: UPDATE: Avis reached out after my review on BBB website and they made things right. They said they strive for correct information to be relayed verbally at the desk and, without overtly admitting fault, were gracious in their response. So kudos to them for taking the initiative to correct, even after I had already spoken to customer service and resigned myself to paying the bill. Avis gave me a damaged car, dents and scratches all over it. The car ended up dying two days before I was supposed to return it, had to winch it onto the back of a flatbed to take it to the mechanic. Then, I get charged for the full 7 days. I told them to just end the rental when it got on the truck because it wasn't worth the hassle of trying to find another SUV. They also charged me for gas, but it's kind of hard to return a vehicle full of gas when it can't even drive. Customer service was useless. They knocked 1 day off ... read more

I have rented from Avis many many times before... But NEVER AGAIN!! ... BEWARE... DEMAND AN INSPECTION WITH SOMEONE BEFORE YOU LEAVE. I rented a car to drive home from Spokane, Wa to Pasco, Wa., 2 hours. I used the express... got into the car(did notice a star on the windshield) thought nothing of it... drove 2 hours, turned in car... and 1 month later recieved a bill for $540.00 dollars!!!!!! I have been a preferred customer for Years. They have been my only choice for car rentals. This last rental I was shocked. There was a rate charge, that has NEVER been applied the way they did this time. I am not sure if the spike in rental prices out way long-term cusomer services and apreciation or they just didnt look into this better. I was charge for an additional hour at 40 minutes past the return time. Pick up 11:57AM returned 12:40PM.
