The serpentine queues outside this little pizzeria is a fair enough indication of it's popularity in the city. However, Apizza Scholls' fame goes far beyondPortland. This no non-sense pizzeria is frequently listed amongst the country's top pizza places and is a must-visit fixture when in the city. The restaurant's kitchen headed by owner Brian Spangler delights with his single-minded focus of crafting some of the best pizza pies. Choose from a delectable selection of house pies featuring classics like the Apizza Margherita a... read more

Try the ny white! Ricotta and visable slices of garlic. SO GOOD. Best crust around and is closest to a ny thin crust.

That was the most amazing thing I've ever beaten
BAD SERVICE & Overpriced Hype – Nothing like spending 30% more than anywhere else in town and being treated like crap on top. Waiters with hipster attitudes, bartender acts like rude and uninterested. Incredibly long wait for pizza, with maybe 10 people in the whole place. Couldn't bring out two pizzas together, ten minutes apart, no apologies. WOW, have these guys fallen apart, never seen a place go so high and come down so hard. Don't go!
Homemade sausage with Mama Lil’s peppersWith a reception as chilly as a warden greeting a recidivist, Apizza wins no atmosphere awards.
Exceptionally Rude Service – I have never been inspired to write a review until now. I went to Apizza Scholls for the first time tonight and will not be back. We waited at the bar to order drinks and were ignored, the bartender actually asked us what we wanted and then walked away, when he came back he asked us again. I tried to pay for my wine because I was going to be leaving early and the waiter wanted me to put it on the tab. When I told him I wanted to pay right away he was exceptionally rude, like it was a huge inconve... read more
Thin-crust East Coast/New Haven-style pizza, this southeast joint closes when they out of dough, which they stick in a 650-900-degree oven and char the daylights out of. [Eater 38 Member]
Entertaining a New Yorker – My sister in law is in town from NYC and we wanted tot take her and our kids out for some good pizza. When we got there the host said the wait would be "just a few minutes". I have a 9 month old, a 7 and 9 year old boys and it was 7pm on a school night. We ended up waiting 30 minutes and people that entered after us were seated before us. While we were waiting, I had plenty of time to check out the place. The atmosphere is sterile and lacks character. Reminded me of North's chuck wagon from when i... read more
Get in line before opening. Quite possibly one of the best pizza's I've ever had and as a New Yorker, I don't give that praise lightly.
