This no non-sense pizzeria is frequently listed amongst the country's top pizza places and is a must-visit fixture when in the city. The restaurant's kitchen headed by owner Brian Spangler delights with his single-minded focus of crafting some of the best pizza pies. Get there early and know to sign in, or you will be turned away. – We were disappointed to arrive on a Saturday evening and find out that only so much dough is made, and they were out by 8pm. Make sure that you get there early and sign in next door. I hope the on our next visit, more dough will be ready for a busy Saturday evening.

Better when we could sit outside away from all the annoying little kids – They lost their outdoor patio, which was awesome. I can't stand it inside and that newer side reminds me of Round Table. Pizza is still great but as others say wait it too long. Go on a weeknight, never bother with a weekend unless you are there before opening.

meh – Just like everyone else, we had to wait two hours to get our food. The wait was helped along with a couple beers and that might have affected my judgement (i admit it), that being said I think the pizza was fantastic. I thought the wait staff was very friendly. They can't help that they have too many customers and the service we got was very good. (Read: our beers were never empty.) I thought the food and service was great, but not good enough to go back and wait two more hours.

Drink before you get there so you can bear the wait and not so good pizza – I know that is not the best way to start a rate it session. The wait was way too long over 90 minutes just to get seated for your order. Staff are far from friendly. Then it takes 30 minutes more to get the freckin pie that is over cooked and lacks flavor. What the bleep? Anthony Bourdain (chef/critic) is an old has been that you should not bother listening to his food judgment, he drinks so much and smokes that he has no taste buds.

Don't believe the hype – After waiting for 90 minutes to have our order taken, it took another 30 minutes to get the pizza. My son and I were both kidding with each other saying this better be the best pizza we ever had. The waitress did a little tease with us and brought plates to the table about 15 minutes into the wait and then the pizza didn't come for 15 minutes later. I say it was ok pizza. I really was expecting a more flavorful sauce. When you just can't say no to another slice that is good pizza. This was not that a... read more

Best pizza and friendly servers – I just don't understand how people think these guys are rude. Yeah, they're busy and constantly turning around tables and taking names down (the waiting list) but rude??? Never. They don't have time to sit and shoot the s**t if that's what you're looking for but they have always been super nice to me. In fact my friend and I have gone so many times, they know our bottle of wine and pizza without even asking us. The pizza is amazing and yes it takes a bit but that's why you order a bottle of ... read more

Almost, BUT not quite – Indifferent service I can live with, but I am deadly serious about my Pizza. Pizza Scholls says all the right things, but are unable to make those things come out right. The crust was dry and "cracker-like" without any chew. The toppings on our 'basic' were of good quality but over-cooked and dry. Whatever happened to the good old tomato pie with mootz. We are going to try it again this Saturday, early, and see if the waiter/waitress will take our direction to the baker and add some extra tomato sauce... read more

Pizza with a side of Attitude – After the long wait we felt like the pizza better be out of this world and I have to admit that it was very good if you like gourmet thin-crust pizza. That said, every time that we have been there the staff has been the most arrogant and rude that we have encountered and we eat out often at nice places. They act like they are doing you a favor by serving you a freaking pizza. We feel we have gotten attitude because we don't fit the Hawthorne neighborhood they are in because we don't have any t... read more

I'd Have Waited Even Longer – Ridiculously good pizza, even after a two-hour-fifteen-minute wait. (And we even got there at 5 p.m.) Try the truffle pizza -- simple, delicious, filling. By 7:30pm, the place had calmed down and the wait was much, much shorter.
