The serpentine queues outside this little pizzeria is a fair enough indication of it's popularity in the city. However, Apizza Scholls' fame goes far beyondPortland. This no non-sense pizzeria is frequently listed amongst the country's top pizza places and is a must-visit fixture when in the city. The restaurant's kitchen headed by owner Brian Spangler delights with his single-minded focus of crafting some of the best pizza pies. Choose from a delectable selection of house pies featuring classics like the Apizza Margherita a... read more

SOLID pizza, as good as it gets in Portland (from east coaster) – This is from a pizza-holic, this is pretty much as good as it gets in Portland. I haven't found pizza to be kick-butt yet in Portland, but this is fresh, tasty, and very very good. I also love American Dream pizza, and Pizzicato isn't bad most of the time (when fresh, not by the slice). Touche is also in the top group of pizza in town.
Great place! – This is the best pizza place in town. I have never had a bad pizza or experience. For those who want to go, get there at 4:45pm or wait a long time. The patio in the back is great and the staff in the kitchen are great with kids. My 2 year old loves watching them make pizza. The wait staff is much friendlier and easier going than in the past. Salads are fantastic and there seems to be an energy that lacks at any of the other pizza places. I would love if they were able to buy the place next door so everyone di... read more
Absolutely awesome – The crust is something truly special. Slightly charred, perfectly crunchy, bubbly... And the sauce is just perfect, and great service too. The patio seating made it even more fun. Great end to our portland trip.
Great pizza in Portland! – Some of the best pizza in Portland! I've been living in NYC and this is similar to East-coast style pizza. But be aware... this is NOT anything like typical West-coast chain-restaurant pizza or take-and-bake pizza... if you're looking for that then you should probably go somewhere else. If you do end up at Apizza Scholls, I recommend their Caeser salad and New York white pizza. And their Hefeweizen beer is a perfect compliment. The servers are very friendly, and sitting on the patio during a nice d... read more
Incredible – Just fantastic artisan pizza, if that doesn't sound too snobby. And this place is anything but snobby. Hard to get in with crowds and limited space, but the pizza!!!!!!!! If your idea of great pizza is a Pizza Hut Supreme, don't bother to go here. If you wonder why someone in Oregon can't make a pizza like you remember from Italy, this is your place.
Best Pizza in Town! – There pizza is to die for! Excellent, fresh ingredients and a great beverage menu. Make sure and start off with their Caesar salad. One of the best I've had too. I only wish they had more seating because I hate waiting for such great food! :-)
GREAT! – In regards to complaints about service at Apizza Scholls, I've never found the negative bits to be true. Respect is something that you earn at Apizza Scholl's, and I love that. I've grown tired of watching patrons in many restaurants treat servers with utter disrespect, most often looking for half or all their meal to be comped. I've always found that treating my server with respect gets me anything I want in restaurants without any of that ugly conflict. At Scholl's, it also gets you great pizza. Their pizza is the... read more
edited - Finally! Fabulous Pizza! - but I can not get in or get a pizza – Read below for my first review months ago - recently, I have run into longer lines, they did take away pizza, now do not. Run out of dough. Too much work for the best pizza in town. Plan 30+ wait outside, then same inside, if you get in and they have dough. Curse of a good resturant! There is no better pizza, but there are 100s of easier and better resturants to go to in Portland. I love this place! I did not know pizza could taste this great! I do not... read more
A slice of NY in Portland! Amazing! – I never thought I would see this level of pizza anywere West of the Hudson! Previous posts claim that it is burnt...well, real pizza is supposed to have char as it is supposed to be baked at incredibly high temperatues. Crust has a wonderful flavor and the quality of cheese is top notch. The sauce is just right. Fresh tomato flavor with the tomato acidity.... those that claim it is bitter, obviously eat at cheap pizzerias that put sugar in their sauce. The salads are huge and enough for ... read more
