In April I called 911 for my husband, who had fallen down and might have experienced a stroke. The ambulance took him to the hospital and he was released the next day. No complaints with the ambulance people who were great, but everything else about this company is a scamming nightmare. We started receiving ridiculous and confusing bills from AMR soon the 911 call. Very aggressive collection service. Needed emergency service on June 2nd. Insurance only paid negotiated rate but AMR does not participate. Received a letter that they only receive partial payment and to contact my insurance. Same day called insurance company and resubmitted for review. Next day received a collection call. Explained I just got the letter the day before and I had immediately contacted my insurance. I explained it would take up to 3 weeks for the review per the insurance. While the ambulance people did their job alright, their billing representative LIED to me. She said they had received a letter from the insurance and that full responsibility for the charge was on me. Whereas they had not even bothered sending a claim to my insurance.

American Medical Response asked me to pay an outrageous bill of $2,476.75. My insurance company (AETNA) initially did pay this bill so I made an appeal and got a decision that I need not pay for it. Inspite of this, AMR bill to collections agency. BBB should investigate this company for exhorbitant fees they charge for their services and for destroying the credit status of the people who got involved with company.
SCAM ALERT: sent me a bogus invoice for EMS service totaling $11,650. Criminals.

Disgrace of a company. Absolute Garbage, Disorganized, and thier billing practices are outrageous! The FTC and or some type of Federal Regulative Body needs to investigate them because they conduct some fairly sketchy billing practices.
