They did not provide services for my mother in her 80s and wouldn't fully refund her money. She went uncovered for almost 6 months. They are rude and incompetent in the account services area. They are processing 1 of the 2 and wanted to do some hocus pocus discount of $10 per month on the other product. It is unconscionable how they have taken advantage of her and after 5 calls there is no satisfaction, and 2 of the were hang up calls on their behalf. Just plain rude. I may go to the Attorney General in my state.
I am a home owner who received a fine for a false alarm. I was never made aware that a permit was required to operate a false alarm in Los Angeles. If I knew, I would've filed for one and been able to complete false alarm school instead of paying a fine. Since there was no active permit, I did not qualify for alarm school and was required to pay $316 fine. ADT is not supposed to operate an alarm without first verifying an active permit is on file. I had an agreement by phone to change my home security to ADT for under $28.00/month and when the technician arrived without any virus protective gear as we are elderly he informed us that without a land line the costs would be nearly $50/month without even talking about what equipment would be included as the manger on the phone said no doubt what we had could be used. I had ADT installed and someone broke in the very next day, and they kept breaking in when I was out. I have a picture of the pad saying, "Beware, Bypass Active." So the system was being deactivated even when I was home. I was paying $55/mo. And they want me to pay them $322 for their junk equipment, even though they advertise a free $899 system. I had a similar experience to what I have seen here. I called almost three weeks ago to cancel my services but the woman wasn't able to do it (not specified why) but she was very friendly and put a note in my account. However that was meaningless, when I cancelled on 4/27 I was told everything was fine, but charged for the next month at an arbitrary price higher than my previous contract. I had home alarm service with ADT for the last four years; through these years my alarm had come on a few times and not response from ADT not a text, a phone call, neither an email. I called to let them know of the incident and they always had an excuse. Never said sorry or apologize for it. This company is a scam. I called and set up an appointment. They told me to call back if I needed to reschedule. It was 10 minutes later, and they said their office is closed. I called the original number and it sent me someplace else that will not allow me to talk to anyone. I called my bank to cancel the installation fee. I am glad I noticed the website name. It is NOT ADT.
Tried to cancel my policy with a 30 day notice so that I would have my service shut down when I needed to swap over. Saw I was billed for the next month, called to ask for a refund, was told that the customer service rep I spoke to didn't do their job properly so now I am paying the price. Actual service is fine, but customer service is atrocious and no one can/will do anything. Would not recommend ever again.
ADT is a borderline ***** I got the system 2 years ago with one of these vendors going door to door. The contract has a hidden term where I am responsible for $2500 installation fee if I cancel before 2 years (PS: This is on top of 75% cost of the 2 years contract responsibility.) The monthly rate is $64.99. Hidden terms are the worse. I noticed it after the installation guy left.
