The technician that was sent to my house was extremely inexperienced. Very nice gentleman, and i understand that everyone has to start somewhere. But he needed to be with a trainer. He was very uneducated about the product. There is things that i would ask that he clearly did not have answers to and should. I mostly found out how to use the system with google. Wish that I had read these reviews earlier but not surprised at all with what I am seeing. Defenders was sent out to install my first system. When we were moving they were supposed to move the system to the new house. Rep never showed up to do so and now they are charging me for the a new system at the new address, or I have to pay an early termination. Do not deal with this dishonest, sleazy company. ADT gave us a multi-page, very difficult to read contract when we installed the alarm 3 years ago. The print on the back is so light you need a magnifying glass to read it. The contract was for 3 years, but it renews automatically every 30 days once the contract has expired. According to the contract, a customer must give notice at least 30 days before the expiration if they do not want the contract to renew. A representative just called stating they talked my husband about switching our service to the new house we just bought. This was a complete lie and they never talked to my husband. We will definitely be cancelling our service.
DONT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!!! This is one of the worst companies I have ever hired before. They start with lies telling you that their system is compatible with practically all security equipment and then when the technician came to install and right before he left I realized that my home was left unprotected and he just covered a third of all of my areas. There should be an option to give negative ratings. They ask people to be referred only to be have the customers sign up with their partners. This way when it's their turn to give the referral bonus, their answer.... people signed up with their partners, so referrals does not count. And then after 13 months, ADT takes those customers from their partners under them! What's this?
We are a church and have had trouble with our alarm system for a couple of years, receiving periodic momentary trouble reports even though the system works and self-tests perfectly. Last week, the ADT technician said we needed a new system board, reported to our fire marshal that our system was no longer functioning (it still was), and then gave us a repair quote for quite a bit of money (in the thousands). How is it that a company like this is still operating? August 2016 - As you are being rushed through the process of getting your security system setup, the quick, personable talk that they try to wrap you up in, you are unknowingly signing a 3-year contract that they do intend on enforcing - WHETHER YOU USE THE SERVICE OR NOT. 2017 - I had my ADT service for less than a year, paying my dues each month. Don't buy,it will cheat you on price. I bought a security system and also window/door sensors(each $9) from blue by adt,then I found motion sensor not good as I wish,so I decided to switch to door/window sensor.Then I found I have to pay $15 for each sensors.So with 20 sensors,it's even more expensive than I just purchase a new system with sensors.It's even more unbelievable when I called them,they just replied like that's price,take it or not,that's the way they treat old customers.Don't feel it's a honest and decent compan... read more
