Beware of using ADT. We have used them for years and finally decided to switch due to the expensive monthly monitoring. When you cancel, they tell you it will take 30 days to cancel, but what they don't tell you is that even though the service is shut off (and in this case we moved), they will still charge you those remining 30 days. They effectively don't service my area but we're happy to install a system in my home anyways. When repeated failed alarms made the system unusable they could not be scheduled to come out for 2 months. This was after being I. I purchased this service in March and it has not worked since with multiple trouble shooting attempts. They do not tell you about possibly having to pay for a higher internet speed to support the service which in the end may cost you more. I was also not told that I would have to physically manage the equipment every 3 months. I'm 5'1" and cannot climb up a ladder every 3 months with knee problems. That is a health and safety risk. Called to cancel service and was given an earful about how horrible the new service I was changing to was. When I told him he was wrong. I was treated with over talking, unprofessional behavior. Told me I would be sorry for my choice. What kind of customer service representative says that? Then when I tried to speak he doesn't reply because he's "letting me talk". Then instead of canceling, hangs up on me. Very unprofessional service. Do not trust with your security or life!
I have been with ADT for 13 years. I trusted them until 3 weeks ago when I called to inform them about our low battery equipment. The rep tried to find our system but she could not find it. Come to find out, since we no longer have a landline, in which I called ADT to let them know and gave them my cellphone number, that their monitoring connection to my house was no longer active unless they installed a gateway/WiFi system. Called and offered a verbal contract to my 70 year old dad with absolutely no paper information. They get a paper bill, not a e-bill, they never should call and offer a contract without paper details. We got sucker punched for over $500 and only had a savings of $120. Will be filing a complaint, this is NOT an appropriate way to do business, especially not for a company that we are supposed to be able to trust.
TERRIBLE customer service. They will waste ALL your time and take AS MUCH MONEY as possible. I VERY MUCH regret the decision to do business with them.
In June 2020 before my contract end with ADT I called them to cancel the contract which end July 31 . ADT called me and gave me an offer around 15$ A month for one year because of COVID-19. I accepted the offer. In around 26th of June 2021 I called ADT again and told the girl on the line that the offer will end soon and If they will raise the price I wanna cancel. I'm very dissatisfied with the services, and overall business practices. I signed up for ADT back in May of 2019. I was under the impression they offered a security service for 30$ Monthly. It Included a number pad, 4 door motion sensors, and 2 remotes and described them as free equipment. On the day of installation. Unfortunately I was Upsold to a ADT Pulse Package that Included motion detection, window shattering sensors, door camera, and phone access to my system.
