These people are ******* they will charge outrageous amounts of money and provide no service at all. We are a business and ADT didn't inform us that we had no telephone line monitoring the system for 2 years!!! I called to cancel, they charged me $725 cancelation fee. Stupid me, I made a deal with them to keep the system and they gave me "complimentary" equipment, which they ended charging $960 to the credit card after the installation. Wish I could do a lower rating. I ended up getting ADT with my now ex for the house we bought. I ended up moving out and the equipment was left at the house. He didn't want it and I don't need it since I moved to a secure apartment complex. I called ADT multiple times and they were absolutely no help. They stated that we have to pay off the equipment even tho we no longer need it. They will not let us return it and are asking for an extremely high amount. ADT is a rip off! A year in a half ago I got ADT is I thought but I was told by ADT in my area they used Defenders to them to install my system, so I did. I was told they would move my system for free as well as reinstall. I bought a bunch of stuff for 1500$. Well I moved. When I called to reinstall I was told I needed new equipment that my system was no longer compatible. Horrible customer service, lied to about refund for months with no resolution or help. On overage a single phone call is the run around for 1-2 hours. I don't understand how a big company can promise one thing then after months says oops we won't do what we told you or provide good cameras or service. I'm 1 year in still making payments with zero working cameras and zero help. I'm at a loss including financially.

I had been a customer of ADT since 2009, the service was mediocre at best. I became frustrated with the steady increase in rates despite no improvements in service. The final straw was when they scheduled a service call to replace equipment that they noted was mandatory. I took off work to be home during the 5 hour window on April 28th and 1/2 way through the window the technician called noting he would not be out as he did not have the needed equipment, in fact no one in Cincinnati had it. I would give ADT 0 stars if I could. I'm not sure why there are so many different "ADT" choices to choose from on BBB. All of the reviews for ADT should be displayed together to give an accurate depiction of what a terrible company ADT is, regardless of the various locations of its offices. This is the first time I'm writing a bad review for any company, but I'm down to my last straw with ADT. We purchased a system for our home in November 2020, with the chance that we could move in the next year. We were promised that we could take our system with us to a new home with no charge, and it would still work. Don't know why its always hard to cancel service. Been a customer since 2012. I called last month to cancel my service because I sold my house. I told the representative when to set my cancellation but he was more concerned about coming to the house and doing a survey for the new owners, A month later, I get a charge from ADT.
