I have had ADT monitoring service for 8 years and today I tried to cancel my account. The website says I must call. I called several times and was placed on hold for over 1/2 hour each time. ADT customer service is extremely poor.

My experience with ADT has been horrendous, from the first few months of doing business with these people until now. The sensors dont stick on properly and continuously fall off and you cant put it back up yourself, you have to call a technician. Even when the system isnt armed it will get tripped when exits are breached, I cant open my sliding kitchen door with out having to immediately go disarm the system. I received a call from ADT that I had to have my system updated. It did not work for over a year after this service. I called back with no action.Finally after a year, I called to stop doing business with ADT, I was continually put on hold for 40 minutes at a time and transferred repeatedly. A Rep then told me she could help me. I told her I needed to cancel. She said they would need to send me a letter and I would not be able to cancel for a month or more. I told her this was illegal. On several occasions I have called and advised my system had not been working and that I needed a tech to come out to resolve the issue. Time and time again I have been given the run around as to why no one could come out and advised to purchase new equipment. Over a year has passed now and I have moved and Finally I have had enough. We have had an ADT system for several years. They kept my husband on hold for 1 hour and 15 minutes today when he called to cancel our service.We had a key pad system, which never allowed us to "arm" the system because our sensors continuously malfunctioned. Even after they sent two repair persons on two different occaisions to fix the system, we were unable to arm it. After 13 years with these incompetents, I've finally had enough. Over the past three years I have had zero contact from ADT. Yes, they have no problems sending the quarterly ******** which are always increasing. But there has been no other contact: system checks, alarm checks, battery checks - nothing. I even shut the system off at my residence for three weeks to see if that would cause an inquiry: NOTHING! I went to the local office to speak with someone, but the doors are all locked. I have ADT. I have made sure that I had a warranty as well as the plan that I was on. My internet service was cut off but when I got it restored **** insisted on me getting a new router. I contacted ADT to let them know that I was getting your new router and my cameras wasn't working when they restore my services with the old one. We tried to reset the cameras but I was unable to so they needed to send a check out. I asked them will I be charged for the tech coming out because I wasn't paying for a ticket to come out. Don't get me wrong their services are good but when it comes down to their customers and what they tell them when they ask the direct question and when it's they don't fall through on what they say. This is one of the worst and most difficult companies I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Since buying my new home, I have been receiving flyers in the mail on a nearly daily basis. I have called twice to get taken off the list. The first time I was told "it's not illegal to send you mail," while the second time I was just told that they don't have my address and that there is nothing that they can do.
