Instead of processing my request, I was directed to a customer retention specialist who asked for my reason for cancellation. I informed him that I was interested in remotely monitoring my home from my smart phone so that I could receive notifications when certain sensors were triggered, without setting off the alarm. Ackerman Security is a scam and they should be stopped immediately from deceiving more people. My wife and I moved into a condo over 2 years ago. We wanted to get a security system that was monitored so my wife signed up with Ackerman for a 2 year contract. They told us we could transfer in the future if we decided to move and could be under the same contract. That was the main reason we signed up so we could take it with us. Ackerman is a great company with great customer service. If ever an alarm they are quick to call you to confirm is real or false. If regarding billing or renewal they do all the right things to make you feel comfortable. (1) when you call they know it is you based on the number you call from and greet you (2) email you what was discussed right after, so you can review and not leave wondering if everything discussed was documented or not They go out of their way to do right by their customers!

Beyond disappointed with the service and lack of help when looking to cancel. I got Ackerman when I moved in to my house about three and a half years ago. The sales people were really nice and I was told that I had to stay on a 3-year contract so I was not responsible to pay for the equipment they upgraded me to, and then I was told after that I could cancel any time - LIES! THEY AUTO RENEW THE CONTRACT FOR A FULL YEAR WITHOUT TELLING YOU, and then you call to cancel, nobody mentions this to you, but they make it so hard for... read more

I called Ackerman Wednesday, November 13, 2019 and to hold for almost one hour before connecting with a representative. Needless to say, I was annoyed for having to wait sooooooo long. Words cannot even describe how disappointed and disgusted I am with Ackerman Security. My husband and I are moving back in with my parents. We tried desperately to have the buyers of our home take over our contract but they have plans to do massive work on the home and do need access to the system. Good when I had them, horrible when I cancelled service. Changed to Xfinity Home two months ago. Was not under contract with Ackerman, was month-to-month. I notified Ackerman in writing that I was moving to Xfinity services. Ashley Jenkins, a service loyalty rep, stated I needed to complete a cancellation order form, which I declined.
