Rented an 8 foot pod for a total of $4117. The gal waived the one month rental fee of $287. I then started getting emails saying that they're going to still charge me that rental fee so I made them put it in writing that that was waived. Never signed anything then I get my credit card bill instead of $4117.00 they charged me $5064. I called them and they said it's a fuel surcharge. I asked them where is that in my contract? I used 800-PACK-RAT for a cross-country move. I chose them over a competitor (****) because of the lower price. I was quoted $3,600 all-in repeatedly. I later upgraded to faster shipping for an additional $900, so $4,500 total. I had repeated phone conversations with customer service leading up to my move. In each call, they verified the price and told me when the next segment of billing would be. (You don't pay for everything at once.) To my surprise, a $1,200 fuel surcharge was added to my bill. I used PackRat for a cross country move from Florida to Michigan. I called their ******** MI distribution center upwards of 5 times to want them of a narrow street and to have the driver call before hand to make sure the street was cleared of neighbors cars. The driver called when already here. I then moved my car used to block the space for the container. On 12/8/21, I ordered a storage unit to be delivered to my home on 12/22/2021 and rent monthly. Every month I called and confirmed the next month rental. On 2/23/2022, I called to have storage unit pickup on 3/22/22 and confirmed over the phone and on website. The day before pickup, I called again to make sure pickup date was schedule and was told everything was scheduled and I did not have to be home. I had a long-distance move last year from ******* to ***** unfortunately the original house that I was trying to get fell through and my belongings ended up having to be stored in the container for a longer period of time once I received my container I noticed my belongings had rust stains and water damage after further looking I seen inside the container where it was leaking I filed a claim after waiting three months was denied. Send it it's not covered under the $10,000 insurance that is included for long-distance move. So... read more

The 1-800-PACK-RAT corporate claims department was contacted regarding the customer's complaint. An investigation was conducted at the time based on the evidence submitted but the customer. It was determined that there was not enough evidence to determine the container leaked. A letter of denial was issued to the customer. The customer appealed the decision and sent in supporting documentation that was not submitted with their original claim form. Packed a container for local storage with unknown duration or future delivery address. They knew this at the beginning because my son was graduating college and didn't have a job. He might or might not be in the same city. They can't tell you if a particular zip code is "in" or "out" of a delivery area for a particular warehouse. For me, they simply refused to deliver, full stop. My only option was "bring a truck and come get your crap out of our container". I won't use them again. Flat out, don't book with this company if you have basically any expectations around timing or transparency. It took them three weeks to move a container across the country and nobody could tell me where it was or when it would be delivered. First they messed up the container delivery day at the start location despite that being a part of the contract I signed, claiming I was missing a permit that I didn't actually need and didn't bother to tell me. I used this service for my move! Not only did the driver harass me during my move but the company did nothing to resolve the issue! They randomly charged my bank account. Refused to refund me, I will be disputing with my bank company! Horrible and customer service agents on the phone. I will contact a supervisor to resolve this issue! DO NOT USE! THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF

I was ripped off by 1-800PackRat. This is extremely disrespectful and upsetting. I had my card on file for auto pay, my belongings were being stored for 2 months at their facility. I was paying monthly. My container was dropped off on Feb 7th and I was charged a full month, almost $400 on the 3rd. When I called to get refunded, I was told that because the charge has already went through and I did not call in advance for proration, that there was nothing they could do.
