I am shocked that 1800 pack-rat is able to stay in business. We scheduled a drop off for a storage unit on July 1. After a full day of waiting - and needing to be out of our apartment - I called their customer service line to find out they had bumped us to the next day- with no notice. We came back the second day to wait again- only to find out they were not going to make it July 2– and it wouldn’t be until July 5th. Should be a zero. Moved from NJ to VA. Not one of the agreed upon drop off or pick up dates we’re honored. No phone calls. Useless customer service. Was charged an extra month because the unit was not picked up in time. Refused to refund our money.

So trying to be professional....but we are OVER it! Scheduling was easy. Dates Confirmed. NOTHING went well from there. Did not deliver on scheduled date. Did not pick up on scheduled date. NO COMMUNICATION from company. Called and called...no response. Drove over 750 miles to meet Pod and was confirmed day before and day of for delivery. 2 hours before scheduled delivery received a call, that pod was still at point of origin (750 miles away) and would not be delivered for 7 more days. 0 Stars - Same issues as ALL the other reviewers. Its not regional or PNW only. In North Texas its a disaster as well. The delivery of our stuff on the pod was 10 days late. We had to sleep on the floor our our new house and sit in lawn chairs for a week and a half. Never did I received a single correspondence from the shipping warehouse or customer service. I had to call 3-4 times a day to get told EACH day that the pod was going to be delivered, it wasn't, it was a lie. Each time you call they tell you its going to be deli... read more

Communication is non-existant. There's no telling how much you'll actually have to pay because they'll just charge you whatever they want for the surcharge, which seems like thievery. When they return your pod, they don't give you a time so you can't plan to have anyone help you unload it. It's 10 pm and it's not here yet and despite 3 calls, there's no information to be given. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING. No exaggeration - this may have been the worst experience I have ever had as a customer of any business. By far the worst moving-related company I have ever dealt with. Booked a drop-off date 5 weeks in advance for 6/24. Reserved movers, booked transportation, and informed our landlord we would be moving out 6/25 based on this date. I called 4pm on the day of drop-off date and was told the pod would be coming later. If I could give this company ZERO stars, I would. I absolutely do not recommend... I even talked to management and got LAUGHED at and told there was nothing they could do for me. I am paying almost $3000 for ONE pod. When scheduling it was absolutely great and no hiccups.... few weeks later when it is time for action it has been a nightmare. 30 minutes before drop-off, I was told it was rescheduled through text until the next day. Yup, they are like car salesmen, anything for a sale! They told me that Packrat would do the move from ******, TX and the them Zippy Shell would do the rest because Packrat doesn't have storage facilities in ** ****, TX, It started out OK, but then our container with basically mine and my sons life (after my husband sudden Covid death) was supposed to be in EP by the 21st of June, we left on the 8th of June. If I could rate zero stars, I would. Booking online was nice and easy, however apparently picking a date for drop off is useless because it will not be delivered that day. I will also be next to impossible to get someone from customer service on the phone to figure out why it was not delivered. Once you finally get a callback, they have then email someone else about the delivery issue, which makes all the waiting worthless. Do not use this company.
