This has been the worst experience ever! I have used zip several times. It hasnt been great. One of the times I rented for two days. When I picked up the vehicle it smelled of weed so bad, it made me sick to my stomach. Luckily wasnt in vehicle for too long durations. Avoid ZipCar in ***. Today, on 2.18.24, I had a reservation for a vehicle at 56th & ******* that shouldve started at 10:30a. The parking lot was congested with only one working elevator, causing an hour-long wait. After contacting ZipCar, they redirected me to a location 20 minutes away.The second vehicle had no issues initially, but it was an electric car with only half a charge. I have been a customer for over 10 years. My account was deactivated one day, As I hadn't been using it much since I moved to a different state.I had to reactivate my account. It keeps failing. They only give me a list of reasons why it could fail. They charge you twenty five dollars each time to run the application. This is illegal In my opinion, As they do not tell you explicitly why it is failing but only give you a general list.So theoretically, you could fix one thing, but still have multiple things, causing it to fail.... read more
Zipcar needs to do better with their policy when a regular car parks in the Zipcar parking lot. I rented a car on saturday 1/27 at 8pm for 24hrs next day I go to return the vehicle mind you Im 20 mins early, theres a non Zipcar vehicle parked in the spot so I go around looking for parking now where I live its really hard to find parking especially since they recently made bus lanes around the area & plus alternate side parking. The car smelled potently of marijuana. My children refused to re-enter the car each time we made a stop, but we needed to get where we were going and had no **************** calls. Truly a horrible experience. This was my first and last time using this company. Filling out the user survey and calling after the fact was utterly useless.
On 12/31 on a what was supposed to closed account that has not been used for years due to a suspended license they took almost $400 out of my account without any notice. When I called back to get it put back it took a week and 9 calls just for them to put the money back and then take it back the following day. This company is illegally taking money from peoples accounts who have o active account since you cant be approved with a suspended license. Dont use this company. They are continuing to charge us a monthly subscription fee. My son and I tried to call them numerous times to cancel the account but the attendant refused to do it because they did not have our email. Ironically we are getting emails from them. Their supervisor never called us back. I have a disability and I also feel that are discriminating against me.

I called 866-4ZIPCAR this morning (12/29/2023) to cancel my account. The website wouldn't let me do it because the card on file was outdated. The answerer was a recording saying something about a $100 gift card...if I wanted more info to press 1 or I could hang up. I hit 1 because I wanted to speak to someone, not hang up. Ive used Zipcar for maybe 5 or 6 years. Always fraught with problems, missing cars, dirty cars,,extremely long customer service wait timeswhich can impact your rental period and could result in a $50 fine. I had a fender ****** in October 2023. Zipcar immediately suspended my account while they went to work on the claim (noted that it was the other drivers fault). 3 months later my account is still suspended.
