Cheese grits, black beans and fried fish are staples in any soul food restaurant, and this kitchen prepares them in the most traditional way. The owners opened the Birmingham restaurant after success with a couple of other locations in Florida, and just like in the Sunshine State, you'll find simple dishes made with simple ingredients. Open for lunch and brunch only, come and order some chicken and waffles and wash it down with a sweet tea, it doesn't get any more quintessentially Southern than this.

Has to be the best restaurant food I have had! The name own's up to the taste- well correction - it should have been named "Better Than - 'Yo Mama's"- because it's just that great! A must try!!
Today was my first time at Yo' Mama's and I really enjoyed it. The food was cooked to order and very tasty. I will go back.
The food is simply AMAZING!!! Mama made the batter for the waffle, the whipped cream and the syrup FROM SCRATCH and is was the best!!! :-) Wings were seasoned to perfection! Will definitely be going back!

Sorry guys BUT... I will probably not go back. We ordered Wings, and grilled fish.Meal took over 30 minutes for wings but were undercooked, the orders came 15 or so minutes apart, help kept apologizing for everything, to everyone. Cute looking place, high tech check out. I found no reason to go back.
The food was outstanding. I really enjoyed it and have plans to visit daily.
I already know and can't wait for what I don't know........more good food!
