I simply have given two stars for the simple fact that I didn't have any issues while living at the home that Evergy was servicing. However, they failed to contact me via phone number (which their customer service informed me that they still have on file) or email (which is the primary way that they communicated with me while using their services) prior to putting my final balance that I was NOT aware of into collections. Evergy, people they are stealing our hard earned money. Look on the back of your electric bill. My electric usage came to $132.25 Their bogus charges came to: $75.83 Service fee: $14.40 Fuel used in power generator: $32.60 Property tax surcharge: $1.65 Transmission: 26.67 Energy efficiency $0.41

Our local company was unfortunately bought by these ********. Multiple power outages a week followed by nothing but lies and no compensation. This company shouldn’t be allowed to exist.

We have had a lot of problems with Evergy since November of 2019. First of all, they came to our door at the beginning of November and stated they were redoing underground lines in our area that were ready to expire. Their employee stated they would be out in two weeks and asked that we leave our gate unlocked. Instead, they were working in our yard in less than 5 days. If I could give 0 stars I would. I unfortunately lost my job back in November, but I have kept up my payments to avoid service interruption. This is the first month I am not going to be able to make my payment on the due date. I called to ask if I could pay it in 8 days, but was told they could not push out the due date, so I was given two options, one of those being to add $40/month to my monthly bill. Ever since the KCP&L Merger with WestStar service is absolutely Terrible!! My church/employer rent lighting from Evergy on our parking lot, over 6 months ago one of the lights went out and was to be replaced. Six months later still no replacement of light, no answer or update as to when this will happen. But we are still being charged the that light and an addl 8th light that has never existed!!

What's with all these utility companies changing names? First it was Spectrum, then Spire, and now Evergy. Why? And where are they getting these goofy names from?? The Monty Python Bureau of Silly Names? Do any of these names tell you what kind of company it is? And, do they think simply changing names wipes away all the sins of the past? If that were the case, criminals would be lined up for blocks to get into the courthouse and get their names changed. Makes a big difference when your electric provider has a monopoly. Other places I’ve lived, where multiple providers were available to the public, power companies were far more flexible in the their willingness to help customers. Obviously, Evergy doesn’t have to worry about little details such as assisting customers when they’ve got everyone in the region by the short hairs.
