3 times Wellcare claims that automatic Payments from Social Security failed to process and guaranteed the next would work. Called Social Security and they say it is WellCare that is the problem. Each time it means that the account is about to be cancelled for non payment. After calling it goes through the same run around..

The insurance company refused to pay for Glargine insulin--a standard of care for most patients who need more than Metformin. I paid $295 for a vial of this long acting insulin. I need only one shot each day--not multiple shots of a shorter acting insulin. My pain management physician recently ordered a pain and muscle spasm drug for me. It is an old generic medication. The Insurance Co. won't pay for it. I am a physician, I certainly won't recommend this insurance company (not even to an enemy).

I've never even heard of wellcare and suddenly this morning I get 30 calls and 30 voice messages from their number starting from 5 a.m. Each voice message is just endless beeping so I had to look up who was actually calling, it's very infuriating. I had to call to get my number removed, and I don't know how they got it in the first place. Effective January 1, 2020, I was enrolled in a WellCare Wellness Rex Plan. I paid the entire annual premium in advance. First, WellCare informed Medicare that I wanted the monthly premiums deducted from my Social Security. I had to formally appeal that wrongful action to the Social Security Administration and eventually that resulting overpayment was refunded. My orthopedic doctor prescribed a hand brace for De Quervains disease. Unfortunately, WellCare would not allow him to give me the brace. I had to have the notes and request sent to my primary care doctor. My primary care doctor gave it to her nurse to review, the nurse sent it to the referral department, the referral department sent it to Baycare, Baycare called me to inform me that they don't take WellCare. DO NOT sign up with WellCare Medicare Part D Prescription plan. This company is horrible. My coverage became effective 1/1/2021. In December 2020 I notified them that I will no longer be receiving insurance/drug coverage through my employer. I answered all the required questions. I received a reference number for that call. Well, it seems that the agent never entered that information. I then received a letter that a penalty of 35.00 would be added to my monthly premium. Misleading advertising and my physicians will not accept the plan. The touted extra benefits are only available to in-network providers. My rheumatologist and my cardiologist will not accept WellCare.
The customer service is horrible. I'm constantly going back and forth between calling providers and Wellcare. I literally have issues using my insurance every time.
**STAY AWAY FROM WELLCARE** This insurance company is a complete joke! DO NOT let a loved one use this company!! My 87-year-old grandmother went into the hospital for pneumonia and low oxygen levels. After 2 weeks in the hospital, she was able to get released and the doctors suggested an acute rehab center where she could receive 3 hours of rehab per day. 6 days after the hospital submitted the request to WellCare they denied the claim stating "they did not feel she needed 3 hours of rehab"!!
