I have zero complaints as far as the actual health-care is concerned. But, the service on telephone calls is horrendous. Total lack of professionalism. After an astronomical wait time(which I understand cannot be avoided sometimes), I was transfered back and forth several times, and interrupted repeatedly by every single operator. Thanks guys.
Based on my previous experiences with the VA since 1979 I have to give the BVAMC a solid 4-stars. Once you learn where your appointments are, either the new BVAMC annex bldg (including the parking garage), the original BVAMC bldg or both, it's not that bad. Shuttle service between BVAMC annex & BVAMC are fast with multiple vans & shuttles running. All the staff has been nice & respectful. My husband Frank had Surgery here on Yesterday. The Surgeons. Nurses. Dietary. Lab personnel . Houskeeping. And all other People have been Awesome to us. Frank Is doing well and praying we will be Home In a few more days. Thank you God and Thank you Birmingham VA Hospital Staff.
I have been here in Alabama since 2013, It seems that Birmingham VA is not very good compared to Boston VA Hospitals, Long wait times, Patient Advocates do not get back to you and if they call back they do not follow up with calls. I have experienced Nurses and staff disgruntle and talk about Doctors in front of patients, My first visit for eye glasses I waited over 4 hour and when I got my glasses I could not see out of them , my second eye exam it got not better I can not see out of my glasses? Beautiful facility, staff happy and so friendly ! As a "walk in ", less than 15 minute wait time !!!
