I arrive for my appointment check in at the kiosk and immediately I was called to the front desk they checked my appointment status and told me they will be right with me within 10 minutes I was in the back with my first appointment and they took great care of me very polite and I really appreciate appreciated being treated with respect thank you Birmingham VA
Good visit with lab and doctor but a very long wait at lab and doctor..
The Doctors and staff are professional, caring, and treated me well. With great respect. The VA may need some upgrades when it cimes to staffing, in that they are swamped with patients but still provide the best service available to veterans. Veterans are usually in for a long day with waiting for treatment and check ups. Travel, is hard on both patient and spouce. Spouces need counseling and support on how to deal with their loved ones illnesses and destressing themselves.
Let me just say, the staff was extremely accomodating and friendly, but the facilities just weren't great, communication was lousy, and they were just so understaffed that my father had to wait 4 hours after finding out he'd been admitted to get into a room. They kept saying "they're cleaning the room" like it was a mantra. This was after 8 pm, but I don't understand why there weren't more people around to help navigate around the seemingly deserted building, no service phones or anything.
