I was just out visiting my cousin. ..All the nurses was friendly. ..stopped and talked to us...They helped us to find our way around...The place was clean...I hope i never have to stay myself but if I would have to it would be a great place....
I truly believe that UPMC is just a bunch of greedy people trying to make others desparate to pay prescription costs. They are absolutely ridiculous on how they over charge for things. THE INSURANCE IS AWFUL and really sucks.
After my son was born, we decided putting him on CHIP was the best choice for his health coverage. We applied through the state in September. At the time, we did not know that you had to be denied for free state insurance before you were able to apply for the insurance though CHIP. I have been a patient of several of UPMC's physicians and hospitals for 23 years now. As of 2016 every one of the offices is telling me that I will no longer be seen under continuation of care and should consider getting UPMC insurance. I'm sorry, but there is no way. When someone has had several visits each year and a surgery or two by each of the doctors, you cannot tell them it is not a continuation of care to see that physician for the same issues. It was the dirtiest hospital I've ever been in. Nothing was taken care of in the ICU waiting area. I had to ask for them to fill the coffee, get more cups, and clean any area I wanted to eat at. The people in general are very unfriendly and most hospital staff is cold and no bed side manner. The only good thing, which is most important, was the good care we received for my family member in the 4th floor ICU. Everything else was not good. I hope I don't have to go back there unless I'm critical.
