The Tavern restaurant in downtown Abingdon is a step back in time. Our beautiful old building was built in 1779 and is the oldest of Abingdon's historic structures. In its original inception, it was an overnight inn for stagecoach travelers, housing famous guests such as Henry Clay, King Louis Philippe of France, and President Andrew Jackson. I got the filet mignon stuffed with shrimp spinach, ricotta, cream cheese and herbs. Had a tasty sauce smothered over the top. It is an acquired taste and delicious
Sat on the deck over looking it's courtyard and delicate lighting. Beautiful sunset cascading through the trees. The service was excellent and enjoyed our German flared meal. Will visit again.
