The Tavern restaurant in downtown Abingdon is a step back in time. Our beautiful old building was built in 1779 and is the oldest of Abingdon's historic structures. In its original inception, it was an overnight inn for stagecoach travelers, housing famous guests such as Henry Clay, King Louis Philippe of France, and President Andrew Jackson. Hard to believe that food can taste this good! The atmosphere, service, food, and history are remarkable! A perfect place to celebrate our 15th Wedding Anniversary...and we got to dine at, and contribute to, the "letter table."
I visited this awesome place while on a golfing trip...absolutely fell in love with this place! I suggest the French onion soup, oyster Rockefeller !!!!! Then can't help but end with the stuffed steak - OMG. I can't wait to come back ! Seriously fell in love with the atmosphere and food
The meal was excellent, the service was exemplary, and we appreciated the Historical Character of the building. We will definitely be back!
I don't give restaurant shout outs much but this place deserves one! The atmosphere, service, food, drinks,.... All amazing! I've been to Abington before and passed this place up. Never again.. 5 stars..
