Mary, our tour guide was amazing and knowledgeable in the history and much more.
Great place to stay, nice folks and clean rooms. The area is also close to sorts of outdoor activities. (fishing, hiking, nature viewing, etc.)

My review is for the tour and restaurant. Today they seemed very unable to handling a busy Sunday afternoon, and very unaccommodating. I asked for a table for four and the girls at the front said they were full, I stepped away for less than 5 minutes and watched them seat two groups almost immediately after us. Apparently you can get on a wait list, but they didn't volunteer this information. If you're going to open your hotel to the general public, then you need to be able to treat them with the same courtesy as a hotel gue... read more
Going to the hotel was a fantastic experience! We walked around and the historic interior is just as breathtaking as the mountains that surround it. Though we didn't stay there, we did the ghost tour which I can't recommend more. SO FUN. Lilith was our guide and she was wonderful. She kept the tour spooky, interesting and awesome.
We did the night tour with Ben and the experiences we had were phenomenal!!! Especially when we had such an amazing tour guide. An experience I had was Lucy deciding to blow cold air on my shoulder during our visit in her room! I highly recommend it!!
Terrifying ghost tour, awesome whiskey bar, secluded in a gorgeous lakeside town, paranormal noises during the night. Everything I wanted, from one of my favorites, The Shining. I work for Kimpton Hotels, and this property is a classic gem.
I am just checking out of The Stanley hotel. Such a disappointment; the service (staff) is terrible. Last night the water to the hotel was shutoff, we couldn't shower after hiking all day and/or even flush the toilet.
