My husband and I sat through their "new" meeting with the guarantee it was only 1 hour and to our benefit. We were convinced to sit through it because we were told it is different now and it was just to review our use of our points and what things we could be doing to better utilize our points. HGVC uses flat out deceptive practices to sell their timeshares. I sat down years ago with a rep in NYC after one of their presentations. We went through the calculations of the "value" of buying shares and vacations, etc. What the sales rep failed to mention was the ever increasing annual maintenance fees for each property (which completely nullify their calculations). Diamond Resorts International sold us 4000 points in 2016, by marketing it as an investment. The con was that if we bought enough points to become silver loyalty members, then after three more years we would have the OPTION to SELL back all the points we own to Diamond for a very tidy sum. I feel they scammed me. I was called on 6/24/19 by Hilton Grand Resorts offering me a promotional opportunity to stay at one of their L**************** in exchange for attending a 2 hour presentation. They asked me if I was single or married and I said I was divorcing. They said that was fine and continued to sell me on a stay for 4 days/3 nights for a total of $225.63 of which $199 cash back would be given to me at the end of the presentation as well as a "spend the night on us" $200 certificate. We recently were on a Dream Vacation with Diamond Resorts. The trip was amazing but once again, even after being assured we didn't need to this time, we were forced into an "update" meeting. We went in and were told our account blew up their computer in "Red Flags" and then were taken into a separate office to meet with Arian. What a scam!!! Got sucked into booking a 4day/3night stay at a grand vacation property. When called back later to book they added additional information that was not discussed prior to booking. Told them we had a family of 6 and they said no problem we can book for 6. Bought into with my mom and sisters in June of 2019 in Hawaii. Was thrilled with what I THOUGHT we were getting. I have been nothing but disappointed since. I have tried to stay positive and tried to see how we can make what we purchased "work", but each time I turn around I find out there was yet another lie in the presentation that makes a hopeful scenario not possible. I was introduced to Diamond during a stay at The Modern Honolulu in Hawaii. The "concierge" at the hotel set me up with a tour with diamond to get a discount on a rental car. At the end of the tour I signed up for their Barclay MasterCard (very high interest) with the incentive that if I did the card I would get a voucher for a 5 day 4 night trip.
