From its not-so-humble beginnings as the home of Carl Hilmer Guenther in 1860, it has been restored into one of the more unique dining experiences in the city. The breakfast menu (served all day) offers Southern Sweet Cream Waffles and breakfast tacos, among other items. 1st time there. My wife and I celebrated our 16th anniversary with brunch and it did not disappoint. Eric was our server and he was great and attentive and answered our questions, not only about the menu but the little things like the meanings behind the calligraphy on the center light fixture. I had the 1851 platter with extra bacon, fantastic. My wife had waffles with bacon, yummy. I had a apple juice but my wife ordered a strawberry lemonade and it was so good. We went for a late Saturday lunch. The wait was 30 minutes, but the complimentary coffee and water, and enjoyable grounds made the time pass quickly. Our server Eric was friendly, polite, and helpful. The food came out quickly and was just the right portion.
Not very big portions, but enough to fill you up. I couldn't finish my plate. I will definitely go back
The "side of fresh fruit" is not the usual garnish of honeydew melon or small sliver of orange - it's an actual side dish of grapes, watermelon, pineapple etc. Excellent coffee, great service and reasonable prices for the plentiful entrées.
Met the sweetest lady working in the little store, her name is Jessie. I called her to say I didn't get one of my items I had purchased. She found it on the counter and is having it sent to me. She was a joy to talk with while shopping and a pleasure to talk to over the phone. We also ate breakfast there. The food was delicious and the portions were huge!
Lunch Menu is great especially the Taco Salad !!! Love it !!!! Next time I'll try breakfast ;)
