From its not-so-humble beginnings as the home of Carl Hilmer Guenther in 1860, it has been restored into one of the more unique dining experiences in the city. The breakfast menu (served all day) offers Southern Sweet Cream Waffles and breakfast tacos, among other items. At lunch, choose from such entries as Champagne Chicken Enchiladas and Pioneer Taco Salad.

Although my husband and I are long time SA residents, this was our very first visit to the Guenther House. We fell in love with this place! Everything about this visit was outstanding, i.e. food, service, ambiance and the friendly staff. Keep on mind that we visited it on a Mon, so there was no waiting. But, from now on we'll be able to justified any waiting for service at this place. Highly recommend!
Gabriela our waitress was as good as our breakfast we will return. The jalapeño preserves are delightful. The pancakes as fluffy as a cloud. The coffee was habit forming. Sausage and gravy over a bisquet should be outlawed it was so good. The sourdough crunchy toast was a great closer.
Yes we has to wait for about an hour at 9am to eat but we'll worth it. They had a museum to walk around in as well as an amazing smelling bakery on the first floor your able to purchase from at any time while you wait. So cozy,we loved it
We have eaten here for years, always great food. The Pioneer & White Wing/La Paloma flour used for tortillas, pancakes and biscuits has always be used in my family for over 60 yrs. locally in San Antonio, TX. We have loved this great company.
We eat at The Guenther House anytime we can when in SAN Antonio! The wait today (Friday am) was very short. The waiter could not have been more polite and willing to make sure my husband and I had everything we needed. Husband had the breakfast tacos and rated his meal 5 stars! Since my diet is limited, the waiter suggested the fruit plate which was delicious. The ambiance here makes me want to stay and stay. I've been visiting for years and my husband and I have yet to have a bad experience. The food is always great and the pastries are even better! On Fridays, they have some delicious blueberry muffins of which I can't get enough.
Nothing different about it...had to wait an hr and 20 minutes..
Me encanto el ambiente, la comida riquisima, el cafe delicioso. Muy recomendable.
