The Guenther House makes its home in an elegant historic mansion on the property of Pioneer Flour Mills in the historic King William area. From its not-so-humble beginnings as the home of Carl Hilmer Guenther in 1860, it has been restored into one of the more unique dining experiences in the city. The breakfast menu (served all day) offers Southern Sweet Cream Waffles and breakfast tacos, among other items. At lunch, choose from such entries as Champagne Chicken Enchiladas and Pioneer Taco Salad.

If you haven't ventured to the Guenther House while in San Antonio you are missing a local gem. We first visited in 1995. Ever time we were in San Antonio we would go for breakfast. Now we live in this lovely city and enjoy the shorter commute. It can be a bit of a wait but well worth it. If you can't wait, ask to see pastries you can purchase and take. The cinnamon rolls are huge and delicious. Best coffee ever!
We traveled from California and was so pleased. Great food and service and the house was beautiful. Thank you for sharing your history with us!
I did some research online for some of the best breakfast places to visit for my first time in San Antonio. Came across the Guenther House as one of the top rated resturants for Breakfast and Brunch, so i decided to try it out with some friends of mine. Needless to say it did not disappoint! The staff were friendly, the coffee was great and the strawberry waffle was the best waffle i have ever had in my life! If i get the chance to come back to San Antonio again, you can bet I'll be coming back to eat at the Guenther House!
If you happen to be visiting San Antonio this is a must stop for breakfast! Not only is there significant San Antonio history to see in the historic house but the food will not disappoint you either. Their sweet cream batter they use for their waffles makes the best waffle I have ever had. The biscuits are big and fluffy. The sausage gravy is unbelievable. Their bacon has a great smoky flavor. All of their baked goods, biscuits and pancakes are made with the flour from their factory so it's nice to be able to experience thei... read more

The biscuits and gravy are awesome here. Wife had waffles...will return.
The cinnamon rolls are ridiculous! So good. Wait was a hair longer than I had hoped. Would visit again.
The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly! The black cherry strudel is divine!
Seriously one of the best breakfast's I have ever had. The staff was also very friendly which made it that much better. I will be having breakfast here for years to come.
