The Guenther House

About this business

The Guenther House makes its home in an elegant historic mansion on the property of Pioneer Flour Mills in the historic King William area. From its not-so-humble beginnings as the home of Carl Hilmer Guenther in 1860, it has been restored into one of the more unique dining experiences in the city. The breakfast menu (served all day) offers Southern Sweet Cream Waffles and breakfast tacos, among other items. At lunch, choose from such entries as Champagne Chicken Enchiladas and Pioneer Taco Salad.

Completely overrated. Flys everywhere, inside and out. Not enjoyable eating food when you have to keep swatting them away. Slow and unfriendly service. Couldn't get water refills unless I got up and asked someone. There were food particles in every glass of water I got. No better than the continental breakfast at my hotel.

Outstanding food, wonderful atmosphere, very friendly people. The service could have been a little better but still enjoyed the experience. Definitely plan on going back when we are back in San Antonio.

This is one of my go to spots for out of town guests or a relaxing afternoon for my family. The quality of the food never disappoints. I am a lifelong consumer of their products.

Love our time there. The food was good, service nice and the ambiance great. Parking was a bit of a problem but the rest made it worth it. Touring the house & visiting the gift shop were " icing on the cake."
