About this business

The Guenther House makes its home in an elegant historic mansion on the property of Pioneer Flour Mills in the historic King William area. From its not-so-humble beginnings as the home of Carl Hilmer Guenther in 1860, it has been restored into one of the more unique dining experiences in the city. The breakfast menu (served all day) offers Southern Sweet Cream Waffles and breakfast tacos, among other items. At lunch, choose from such entries as Champagne Chicken Enchiladas and Pioneer Taco Salad.

Though the wait time was over 40 mins, taking the tour of the house and looking at that magnificent candy house just made it worthwhile! The food was awesome, loved their house blend and our server was polite. Waiting to go back again asap.

We HAVE to eat here every time we are in San Antonio. This historic house overlooks the San Antonio River in the King William District. The food and atmosphere are great! Sometimes there is a long wait to eat but it is worth it!!!

One of the best places to have breakfast and or lunch. The food is always delicious from the breakfast tacos to the waffles, pancakes and biscuits are all very good made fresh from the flour mill. The wait staff are always very friendly and professional. They have wide selection of pastries to satisfy your sweet tooth as well as a shopping area to buy all the different bread and gravy mixes. They even sell the awesome house coffee they serve.

Interesting old stone house, mansion for 1865 when it was built, and nicely maintained and restored, with a lot of family heirlooms and history. Now converted to a restaurant and mini-museum. A decent place for breakfast if you like white-flour carbs (made in the Guenther family's flour mill next door). If you're craving eggs, there are the breakfast tacos that are right tasty. We had a very nice gathering.

The staff is very polite, the service is very helpful, the place is clean and beautiful. The atmosphere and business is very nice and really adds to the dining experience. The waitress recommended the chicken and waffles and i was not disappointed. Glad she also told me there was a half order of biscuits and gravy cause the food is plentlyful here. The service and atmosphere here is 5 Star quality at affordable prices you really have to come here yourself but be sure to come early cause it is popular and gets busy around noo... read more
