Taylor's Chowder House

4.3

About this business

Since 1980, David Taylor has been serving up sensational East Coast-style seafood to eager West Valley diners. In 1985, he opened this eatery specializing in fresh fish from the eastern seaboard including whole-bellied clams from Boston and oysters from Baltimore. The eatery is decorated with a New England seaport theme. Some of the featured items include cod, clams, scallops, catfish, oysters, salmon, walleye; you name it and they probably have it either on the menu, or on their daily special board.

I was disappointed in the food served. Was recommended by our friends that raves about this restaurant. Being from the East coast and knowing fresh seafood. The restaurant is over rated. Jumbo shrimp cocktail not so jumbo smaller than my thumb, oysters not ice cold, cod dinner with artichoke hearts was presented beautifully but the taste of the food could not match the presentation. The chowder big disappointment no clams to be found in it just potatoes. Only thing good service was excellent.

Well I would have to say that the service sucks. Walked in the door and yes they were a little busy for a Wednesday night, but stood in the waiting area as the hostess walked right by me twice didn't ask about how many people or to tell how long of a wait there would be. Then some other folks walked in behind me and she took their info right away. It seemed that she knew them, so I guess that you have to know someone there to get service, because they were all laughing and having a good time while others were waiting. I just... read more

Excellent variety cooked perfect whether baked (stuffed flounder), fried (lightly battered) or broiled (Cajun red snapper) or signature chowder. I plan on many visits while I’m assigned here in Phoenix.

We had an excellent experience last night for dinner with friends. Our waitress was very helpful in ordering. She had great suggestions and was helpful in what she herself had eaten so knew what was good. Great service and awesome food. We will be back again!
