Located in the new Westside complex, Taqueria Del Sol is quietly building a reputation for its high-quality, yet inexpensive Mexican fare. The interior is rather eclectic and funky, with exposed ductwork and an abundance of wrought iron. A wide variety of Mexican dishes includes all the traditional favorites, but their emphatic specialty is tacos. You'll find a nearly impossible variety of taco combinations, with fish, shrimp, and other odd options. Taqueria Del Sol also has a full bar with a wide selection of cervezas and t... read more

very tasty tacos – The line here can be long, but it's worth the wait. Personally I appreciate the fact that you don't get a table until you order. That way I can relax and not worry that someone will fill them all before I get my food. I probably wouldn't bring children here during the busy times unless they are very patient. My husband and I have eaten here many times and haven't experienced any rudeness form the staff.
great food, low prices. worth the wait. – Yes, there are long lines at the Howell Mill Taqueria. That's because it's GOOD. Yes, you can't sit before you order your food. That just makes sense, there would be no seats for people with food - because the place is crowded, again, because it's GOOD. I highly recommend Taqueria - the shrimp corn chowder is to die for, and the tacos are wonderful. It is not good for large parties, and it is not great for kids. But it is a great place for two or three people to enjoy wonderful guaca... read more
Serious south-of-the-border flavors shine in edgy urban digs. – The Scene A pioneer of the Westside area's dramatic comeback, Taqueria del Sol features a futuristic filling-station look. Inside, it's a spartan arrangement of stainless-steel counters, exposed ductwork and gleaming garage doors. A polished wooden bowl filled with oranges, beachy-looking azure cinder block and a wall lined with jewel-toned tequilas make it all feel breezy and far away. The Food Authentic Mexican flavors abound, whether in sporty sounding boutiq... read more
You've Got To Be Kidding – What a horrible place. The food could be free for all I care, but the slow service and incredibly rude staff doesn't make up for it! At this point, I think it's necessary to clarify what I mean by slow service. Once you've ordered, the food practically beats you to the table. The long line to get in, on the other hand, moves so slow that it's difficult to comprehend why. I mean, there's not much to the menu. Pretty straight forward... What kind of taco will you have. So the big question is - what i... read more
Excuse me? – I've been enjoying TdS for years and I've been willing to accept some snippishness and some strict seating restrictions (no pushing tables together until you have more than 6 people present, no sitting down before you have your food, etc.) that are enforced rather rudely (making you feel like an errant teenager). However, since my most recent conflict, I will not go back. After an hour of sitting, THE MANAGER ASKED US TO LEAVE. I pointed out that THERE WERE TWO OR THREE OTHER EMPTY TABLES ON THE PATIO. He said, ... read more
User review by mrc123 – Why does the Citysearch review say this is a good place to go with kids? This needs to be revised! Of all the restaurants I have visited in Atlanta with my son, my experience at Taqueria was the worst! The line extends outside, and forget about trying to sit down and start feeding your cranky toddler while someone fetches food for you. You will be forced to get up, in a very rude manner, by the unfriendly waiter. The taste of the food is very good, but Atlanta has sooo many fantastic Mexican restauran... read more
the best tacos with a little 'tude on the side – Last year I reviewed this restaurant after having been treated very disrespectfully. I boycotted the place for a while. My pregnant wife would sneak out, behind my back, and get herself the occassional fish taco from the taco nah-tzi. I couldn't hold out any longer and a few months ago, we returned. Not only was everyone very polite and courteous, they were very accomodating to our large party with children (not something they were famous for). The last half dozen times we've ... read more
It should be called TRASHeria Del Sol – I have a feeling that many/most of the positive reviews here are written by employees. This place is wretched. Rude service. Low-rent atmosphere. Why anyone would want to eat here is a mystery to me. There's something to be said for doing things differently in the restaurant industry and even making your own rules, but to throw common decency and politeness out the window is inexcusable. Truly horrible. Oh, and the food is really average to below average - I just don't see what the big... read more
Your reviews make me sad – I'm so sad to read all of these negative reviews. I've never been to the Howell Mill location, but think all of you need to head over to the Decatur location. The service is excellent, and I love to go there. My only issue is that there isn't a location closer to me (just barely ITP).
Taqueria Del Sol has a 4.5 star rating with 1,299 reviews.
