I had a great experience with the Customer Service Representative @ Aetna! Barbara was one of the best representatives to assist me with my questions, concerns and health plan education. She went over my plan and explained all the details in relation to a charge I had. She checked all the possible solutions and was able to call the doctor's office directly while I was on the line and spoke to the billing deparment about the charges made. Aetna is a terrible health insurance company. Apparently it is within their legal right to make adjustments to claims up to 2 YEARS after the date of service. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNREASONABLE as I, their customer, have to continue to make new payments to my medical provider when Aetna chooses to pay them less for the medical service. -Aetna saying they cover trans peoples medications related to transition is a lie -They say this generally on their website as well as inside the details of specific insurance plans which falsely claim to fully support trans people "as a part of our company values" and to cover their expenses per the various plans rates as they would any other medical expense. I have 2 herniated disc's and nerve root impingement between c6 and c7 cervical vertebrae. This first happened 2 years ago. I went to see a specialist. I was order to get an mri. Aetna wouldnt pay without 6 weeks of physical therapy. After 6 weeks of therapy i was still in pain. I couldnt afford to stay out of work anymore. I went back to work in pain and then April of 2023. I went to an in-network urgent care and the claim was denied. I called them and they said it was because the doctor I saw while there wasn't in network. They refused to accept that since the urgent care itself was in network that I shouldn't be responsible for the entire bill and the claim shouldn't still be denied. They are making me do extra work and do a difficult appeal process to maybe get this denial overturned. Awful...

I declined their insurance because I do not want it, their agent signed me up for their family plan anyways without my permission and refuses to cancel it. Having to go through their corporate should not be required to cancel an account i never signed up for

Aethna is terrible, not honest insurance! Nobody speaks good English. When calling them- they wasted at least 1.5 hours of my time, sometimes 3 hours. I paid $8500 per year and insurance covered almost nothing! In my case- insurance paid only 8.64%, the rest of that I should pay. They change policies all the time and hide a lot of information. Be aware!

Unbelievable! I received an email about a claim I submitted and for which a decision was apparently reached (so they say). Once I click the link to find details, I get error messages. I called many times and when I managed to talk to someone, the call "conveniently" falls through and goes back to the main menu. It's a legalized scam like many other insurances...

Worst insurance company of my life. They won't cover diabetic medications I need and have used for the last 21 years of my life. They demand we pay them for a mistake they made when I had a newborn, without notice or proper explanation. To find out all of my medications went up 60-100 dollars more than they have previous refills. They say they will cover visits ahead of time and then after the fact decline coverage and leave you responsible for the full amount.
