This company and staff are a bunch of scammers and liars. Don’t ever rely on them to give you an estimate of out-of network benefits, because even if they say that they will pay 70% of the “reasonable” rate, what they mean is that they will discount what they think the “reasonable rate” is by at least 50% , so you’ll end up covering well over half of the costs after the out-of-network deductible before you will see a penny of reimbursement. I belong Aetna for Medicare, I tried to call to see if I qualified for a D-SNP plan which has a grocery allowance card attached to it, I was looking to see if it was available in ************* as it is a nationwide Medicare plan. I wasted 9 hours of my life trying to get an answer out of these people who kept transferring me to someone new, I had to start over every time as they transferred me over 45 times in a single afternoon until I had to give up and try the next day and again the day after. So bad that I still get the shakes thinking about what they put me through. Like most every plan in the healthcare industry, if you're in good health they're all good enough. I specifically needed this plan to pay for an out of network therapist and although in their documents they say it can be accomplished, in reality it was a nightmare getting them to pay..which they didn't and I ended up paying out of pocket. I followed the instructions of my physician, had an MRI done, while I had full benefits for my job, and am being charged $4,000 for it? Aetna is trash and not trustworthy in the slightest. Full stop. How do you sleep at night?

Aetna's business model is denying medical care upfront and have you go through loopholes to finally get the care reimbursed that you need. I've had ***** ****** and some other obscure insurance company's policy, Aetna is by FAR the worst I have had. Generic drug I'm on had to get a preapproval in place, never have had to do that before. Other care got straight up denied. Sure, their staff is helpful on the phone, but they're bound by their policy which just makes them deny everything at base level.

Denied an MRI request and said I have to complete 6 MONTHS of physical therapy before getting an MRI. I tried calling to appeal but was literally transferred in circles for 30 minutes by incompetent workers who all asked the same questions. No one seemed capable of handling my appeal and the one time I was supposedly being transferred to someone who could handle the appeal the automated responses required a “transfer code” which I was never given and the call ended! Horrible overall process - Went to sign up for a Medicare Advantage plan - chose a plan that suited my situation - signup process took more than a hour then was reviewed by someone else, then she wanted me to take a survey (declined). Days later application was held up because of a Part B application problem, which I solved. Aetna continued not to submit application AND gave me no update other than "not done yet". Received notice in mail for Aetna Medicare.NO!!!!!!!! Do not want them contacting me or my husband!!!!!! Sick of their wanna get a customer ads. Not appreciated. They did not know how to spell his name. Assigned him my middle initial misspelled our town spelled it vlle at end of it it ends ville. Guess spelling doesn't matter to them either. It's time to realize people do not want to be bothered with junk mails ads etc. Be Leary of people who can not spell etc. Would not recommend putting it bluntly.
