We got there close to 9pm. I got the lamb and my fiancé got the steak. Our meats tasted like the grill. It was charcoal gritty tasting. The lobster mac and cheese was good as was the shrimp of course. Just disappointed with the main entrees. We sat in the bar so that we could have some privacy. The dining room tables are so close to each other that you can literally hear others conversations.
The filet was outstanding as always. The shrimp cocktail was actually "mild" relative to past visits. I was able to carry on a conversation within 5 seconds of eating it.
The Mrs and I happened upon St Elmo looking for a eatery in downtown Indianapolis. One of the best random occurrences in my life! The setting is roaring 20's speakeasy-meets-steakhouse. The food was *excellent*, perfectly prepared and delicious. Our waiter David was excellent! The waitstaff was dressed black tie, which usually puts me on edge ... but David was so warm, friendly, and funny that we felt right at home. Now, it isn't cheap, but for special occasions, I could not recommend it more!

Awesome...one of the best steaks I have ever had. If you stay in Indianapolis this is must to do and have a wonderful dinner. It is pricey but well work it.
