I have found Dr Carter and all of his supporting staff to be very professional and kind. They treat my like a person, not just a patient.
I had a seamless experience with Dr. Carter, his staff and St Davids, from setting up the surgery, pre-op, valet parking, check in to checkout the next day. It was a studied performance in efficiency and care. Dr. Carter’s assistant Alex was there before, during and after surgery, which added an extra layer of information and coordination that really helped keeping me informed on all aspects of recovery. A+
Came highly recommended, and he was clear, listened to my questions, offered physical therapy so that I could build the muscles up before surgery, which was super helpful. Said that he usually did NOT recommend surgery right away, but showing me the xrays, I could see the bone on bone and deformation of the knee joint. Highly recommend Dr. Carter.

In my opinion Dr Carter is the absolute best orthopedic surgeon for hip and knee replacement in Central Texas. He replaced my right hip and he’s replaced both of my husbands knees. We both had awesome results. We have friends who have gone to other orthopedic surgeons and didn’t get the kind of excellent results that my husband and I experienced. I hesitate to give such a great review because I don’t want his practice to be so busy that I have to wait for an appointment.
Dr. Carter did a THR on both my hips. Both outcomes were very successful with no complications or issues at all. My ROA and overall ability to exercise, garden and just do the things I love is not limited in any way. Dr. Carter cautions against running or doing any high impact activity only because parts of the artificial hip may wear out sooner than the 25+ years they are designed to last. The best hip and knee orthopedic surgeon in Austin!
Dr. Carter listened to my health issues other than the specific concern that brought me to him. He prescribed medication to deal with my chronic issue which has helped immensely. I had asked numerous health professional, including my long-time orthopedic doctor and my pcp, none of whom helped. Only one even bothered to give me a script and it was for pain and depression, which was certainly not the issue!! I appreciate his thoughtful listening!!!
I cannot too highly praise the response of this surgeon's group to date. Everyone with whom I've had contact has been professional, competent, courteous and focused on a good medical and life outcome.
Dr. Carter was very personable and discussed my concern. As far as ease of scheduling, I was a new patient and had to wait for 4 months to get in. It was worth it.
