A Birthday to Remember! – On November 18, my husband and I went to Sambuca to celebrate his birthday. We had never been before and were stunned by the beautiful decor and romantic tables. For an appetizer, we order the Tiger Shrimp and a Gorgonzola Salad, they were excellent. My friend had recommended that I try the Zebra Pasta, so I did. She was right, it was delicious! Horrible Service, Unimpressive Food – My friend and I went there prior to a theater show. We each ordered the soup of the day and decided to split an entree. The soup of the day was lobster bisque. All I could taste was the bitterness of the alchohol and nothing else. After the waitress took the unfinished bisque away, my friend and I waited for over 40 minutes for our entree, the yellowtail tuna. Terrible Service – My experience at the Sambuca Cafe was less than stellar. The wait staff was terrible. My wife and I ordered appetizers prior to our main course. We were enjoying them when the waitress brought out the main course well before we had time to finish our appetizers. The wait staff cleared off our appetizers before we were finished in order to make room for the entree. Then if that wasn't enough, my wife finished her main course before I did. Sambuca – Food great, waiter superb, atmosphere OK (we were there early so the music hadn't started - when it did it was good). Hostess - well, there was one who was obviously new and left on her own - very poor - we stood for 15 minutes before being acknowledged. Still - good place if they get the front of house people in order.
Acoustic Alchemy Show – This was the most incredible experience I have ever had in a restaurant. I had never been there before. I am a huge Alchemy fan and followed them to Austin, Dallas and then at Sambuca in Houston where I live. I have seen these guys many times over the years but never like this. My table was literally 3 feet away. Food was superb, service excellent and the show was absolutely incredible. This is a fantasic place.
Any more mistakes??? – Took a date on a Saturday night. Great music but dinner was a disaster. Wrong salad delivered to my date, her salmon tasted liker it was from last week and the fat on my steak could choke a horse. For music, yes, for food I'll stick with Marks.
Absolutely Incredible – I was there Monday night, it was the performer yvone washington's birthday. Everything was perfect, the service was outstanding. The food is fantastic- hearts of palm salad, macadamia nut tuna---awesome. The music was just right. What a wonderful place.
Old Faithful – Once again, Friday Night Downtown, no-one has any business except Sambuca. Killer Band and a foxy bartender always make for a good time. Keep it up guys- ya'll rule loving-it
Cool – This place is just cool. The food is good, not great, but good and a good value. The music is awesome, Acoustic Alchemy coming in July. Great spot for a date or business dinner. Steaks are awesome.
