The idea for Ruby’s Diner was born in 1980 after a run on the beach. Doug Cavanaugh had just returned to his native Southern California after successfully restoring and running a restaurant on Nantucket Island off Cape Cod. Food was good. The service we got from waitress wasn't the best. Kept messing up the order and when we asked to have it corrected we got some attitude. But overall food was awesome.

Have been there several times. Food is always good, but service is always slow. Takes so long to get out meal.

Shake is creamy cold and fresh, best shake on the coast?
Reasonable prices, great service w/a smile...Loved the clam chowder! Wasn't rushed at all, had a booth w/a great view but I also dined at a not so busy time.

Simply the best thanks so much for tasty food & great service
My family has been making a visit to Ruby's on the pier a tradition every summer when we vacation at the beach for nearly 25 years. We have been disappointing in the increasingly poor quality over the past few years. I think this visit will be our last. Other than their great shakes, the food is mediocre. I think the amazing privilege of serving tourists from all over the world (and locals) at the end of the pier is deserving of a better quality experience.
My wife and I came here to have a nice dinner. We asked for a booth next to a window. We got what we asked for, and then some. We were sat next to a party of about 20 or 30 children with little or no adult supervision. It looked like a summer camp that was celebrating the end of summer. Behind us was a group of high school girls that seemed like they were on some type of hallucinogen. They thought they were unicorns.
