The idea for Ruby’s Diner was born in 1980 after a run on the beach. Doug Cavanaugh had just returned to his native Southern California after successfully restoring and running a restaurant on Nantucket Island off Cape Cod. Great place to eat with a nice atmosphere and the service and food was great.
I wanted to hang out at the beach, so I decided to treat myself to breakfast at Ruby’s Diner. It’s at the end of the Huntington Beach pier. Great food, wonderful views! Very polite service, too. Highly recommend!

Nice Vintage place with a lot of charms, but hot in summer without AC. Very busy place, but worth it!

Horrible service! The last two times have been absolutely horrible! Didn’t get our drinks until our food was brought out and then 3 our of the 5 orders were wrong!! Had to wait for condiments and silverware! Waitress was very rude and unprofessional! We had to get up to ask for refills and all the waitresses up stairs were just standing in the room talking and laughing! HORRIBLE - will not be back! Embarrassing with out of town guests!

Went in at 7 when it opened took the waited 20 mins to come over to ask if we wanted a drink I said a coffee and mentioned we were ready to order he replied I have to take care of the other tables first which were two other tables after getting the breakfast which we were in the 40th minute it wasn’t the cooked well the bacon looked raw and the potatoes hard. Disappointing! I brought out of state guest here and it was embarrassing...the place was so dirty. Fish & Chips were served cold, anyone that ordered fries got cold fries. The service was friendly but really didn’t know what to say to the feedback that our hot food was served cold.
