The idea for Ruby’s Diner was born in 1980 after a run on the beach. Doug Cavanaugh had just returned to his native Southern California after successfully restoring and running a restaurant on Nantucket Island off Cape Cod. First of all I have never eaten upstairs and they put us with all the kids in the Tiki room. It was not relaxing at all especially with that Tiki room music. But I was disappointed in the shake because I had ordered the peanut butter cup. I was expecting pieces of broken up chocolate kind of like when you get the Oreo or cookies and cream you have broken up pieces of cookie. No it was peanut butter and chocolate syrup blended. Service was good. Went there for a late breakfast. Hubby had the French toast cinnamon roll, really good. I saw there burgers but decided on fish and chips. I hate saying this but probably the worst F&C I've had. Next time I would definitely try the burger.
Went to grab a quick bite before heading home. Ordered a bacon cheeseburger for each of us.. my husband and I .. when our food arrived there was only 1 cheeseburger.. the waitress said she didn’t know we both wanted one!! We just cut it in half and ate because our meter time was running down and wouldn’t have been able to wait for another cheeseburger.. not sure if we’ll return
