The idea for Ruby’s Diner was born in 1980 after a run on the beach. Doug Cavanaugh had just returned to his native Southern California after successfully restoring and running a restaurant on Nantucket Island off Cape Cod. Server was a little scattered but sweet. Our food took awhile to come but she offered a free shake for our wait. The restaurant did not seem overly busy but several patrons were not happy with the delays. I was busy enjoying the view.

RecommendedGreat outdoor experience. There is something truly special about a pier
So I have been to this place twice and both the service was awful. My wife meal was cold and the potatoes weren't even cooked all the way. they didn't even ask once of how we were doing or if we needed a refill. They also brought the meal out before the appetizer. I never had a reason to tip someone below 15% before but this past time I went the service was just that bad that I did.

The food is great, service friendly and amazing environment. my favorite part is something much more personal. my dad passes two years ago and some of my greatest memories of him was strolling down the pier, watching the surfers and eating at ruby's. thank you for the memories!

Terrible just terrible. Our food took an hour to get to our table and all the other tables around us that came in at least 20 mins after us got there food way before us and even finished before we ever got our food. The manager didn’t seem to care about the awful service we received he never apologized just offered to pay for our shakes. I don’t understand how a manager can not care to listen to our complaints and actually apologize instead of making dumb excuses.
