Very Cute Place – My roommates and I went to this BYO even after reading the horrible reviews on Citysearch. When we walked into the small restaurant, the hostess was very polite and wasn't anything like the rude woman she was described as in the other reviews. The service was good, food was incredible, and the garlic infused olive oil to dip your bread in was amazing. The desserts, which we read were not that great, were SOOO GOOD. We ordered almost the whole dessert menu for the five of us, and then got a second round of t... read more
Delicious – I was trying to be vegan when I went to pumpkin (couldnt do it) and there was nothing vegan on the menu, which put me in a foul mood. When the waitress went back to ask the chef what he could do for me, I was prepared to write the restaurant off. But it just so happened that the chef had some fresh handmade pasta on hand, even though there was no pasta on the menu, which he tossed with whatever veggies he had laying around. I can not tell you how good this pasta was. It blew my mind! I'm gonna have to say it was ... read more
Not Great – We liked our salads but overall the food was just okay. The service was reasonable. We didn't particularly care for the hostess-civil at best. It's a quaint BYOB but we were expecting more from the experience, especially considering the price.
Overrated – After reading a review in Philly Mag, I decided to give this newcomer a shot, especially after hearing about the chef's background at Little Fish. Well.....everything was great except for the most important...the food. I think that the ideas were all there but it needs a lot of work. Scallops were overcooked by a lot. Pheasant barely had any meat on it and the sauce made my mashed potatoes melt into the dish and form a soup! Give this place 6 more months to get itself together...but there is potential - great pri... read more
Pumpkin is the best! – We just had an another amazing dinner at Pumpkin. The hostess and the staff are just so friendly and helpful. The chef is the most consistant and innovative in the city. The dishes are amazingly different than you will find in any restaurant in the city, sophisticated and bursting with flavor. The mussels appetizer and the scallops appetizer are the best we've ever had. The fish stew is amazing! I can't go through the entire menu because it changes nightly, but you will not be dissappointed!
Not Worth It – The food and service were good, but not good enough to justify the inhospitable and unprofessional hostess. She scowled every time a member of our party opened the door to the restaurant (it was very cold) and overall dampened the mood of our holiday dinner. When we spoke to her privately after dinner about how her demeanor was unprofessional and uncalled for, she simply argued more. Although she clearly was stressed out, she should not take it out on patrons.
Horrible! – I was visiting from NYC and went to Pumpkin with a friend who wanted to try it. We had a miserable experience because of the attitude of the staff, particularly the hostess, who also happens to be the owner. She was rude and unprofessional-I don't know how she expects the restaurant to stay in business when she treats customers the way she does. Definitely not worth it!
Don't go! – We were told to wait outside while our table was set up, and close the door behind us! It was freezing outside, and they were not quick! Only 11 out of the 17 people arrived, and the owner (or head waitress?) Yelled at the person who made the reservations, I am not sure where she planned to put the other 6 people in the tiny restaurant It was a very intimidating experience and I felt pressured into ordering a starter I would not like to be picked out and yelled at also. We were then charged for an extra 6 main co... read more
