About this business

Opened in 1771 by Colonel Ebenezer Crafts, the Publick House Historic Inn offers a charming and historical stay. The inn was used during the American Revolution as a training ground for soldiers and rumor has it that George Washington even stopped by. In fact, Publick House has always been an inn and restaurant except during World War II when it was used by the army. Guests can decide whether to stay in the historic building of Publick House or in one of the newer buildings like Country Lodge which is located in an apple orc... read more

My husband and I had New Year's Eve dinner and everything was outstanding. We will definitely be back for a special occasion.

It's nice to splurge once in a while, this is a great place to celebrate a special occasion. The decor is beautiful! I love the way they decorated the Inn for Christmas. The food was very good and the portions were quite large. I would highly recommend it.

My family went Tuesday at noon, it was my sisters birthday. We didn't make a reservation since it was a Tuesday and were very lucky to get in, shortly after there was a long wait for a table. Bonus they put us in our own room and we had a great time. Food was great. It is a little pricey but in the local paper there are always coupons, buy one meal get one free. We had three coupons (party of 7) and all were honored. We all loved the decor and the Christmas decorations where gorgeous.

Stuffed trout was pretty good. The place was packed with customers. That's always a good sign.

Great food and a wonderful atmosphere. The wait staff was excellent and overall the restaurant was very warm and comforting. Loved the comfortable chairs and the fire.

I'll agree with "sub par" for the food. $17.00 fish & chips.... One relatively small piece of fish and handful of not so good fries. Waited almost forty five minutes for food to arrive. Server was excellent (yet over burdened). Pretty sure folks go there to be a bit pretentious and be seen.

Food was very good. The blonde at the reservation desk seemed put out and the service by the waiter could be improved.

The food was below average so I wouldn't go back. The service was good and the restaurant was decorated beautifully for Christmas which was why I gave it 2 stars.
