Opened in 1771 by Colonel Ebenezer Crafts, the Publick House Historic Inn offers a charming and historical stay. The inn was used during the American Revolution as a training ground for soldiers and rumor has it that George Washington even stopped by. In fact, Publick House has always been an inn and restaurant except during World War II when it was used by the army. Guests can decide whether to stay in the historic building of Publick House or in one of the newer buildings like Country Lodge which is located in an apple orc... read more

Great food, service, and atmosphere! I would definitely go back!
I DJED a wedding in October of 2016 and a wedding on January 15th 2017. Management and staff was absolutely fantastic. Organized and on top of time line for weddings. Totally recommend The Publick House.
Over priced and tasteless Crowed very noisy rugs are in need of repair . Very small selection
The waiter was very good but the food was awful. Prime rib was cold and very bland . I won't be going there again!
My husband and I got married here last year and returned to celebrate our first year anniversary. We've always had a wonderful experience at the Publick House and this time was just as delightful. We felt just as special as we did on our wedding day and can't wait to return next year!
My parents used to take us to the public house when we were children. My husband and I have been going there for at least 30 years. We live in Connecticut and have family in Massachusetts .It has served as a meeting spot for many years. We've celebrated many holidays here. We've always had a good meal and enjoy the atmosphere and service. It really is one of our favorite places to go.
I did lunch, had a brief tour of the facilities, and tried their bakery. All lovely experiences. I loved the look and feel of the place. And both lunch and pastries were scrumptious.
First time but will definitely be back. We sat at the bar and Charles took very good care of us. He was funny and attentive. We had the pouched scallops ...open face turkey sad witch and turkey rubin. The turkey was fresh and so moist. The corn bread was a nice touch with the open face. This place is definitely fun and is just the a great New England find.
We had an absolutely fantastic time celebrating New Year's Eve and a wedding reception at the Publick House on New Year's Eve... Kris did an amazing job keeping with the timeline and keeping everyone informed. She and her staff were able to do a transition from ceremony to reception in a matter of minutes ... A truly professional group. The dinner and Decor was amazing... just an overall fantastic time. As a professional vendor they were a pleasure to work with!
