About this business

Opened in 1771 by Colonel Ebenezer Crafts, the Publick House Historic Inn offers a charming and historical stay. The inn was used during the American Revolution as a training ground for soldiers and rumor has it that George Washington even stopped by. In fact, Publick House has always been an inn and restaurant except during World War II when it was used by the army. Guests can decide whether to stay in the historic building of Publick House or in one of the newer buildings like Country Lodge which is located in an apple orc... read more

Came to the Publick House over the weekend to attend an extended family members wedding. I am quite perplexed over the mediocre reviews because both the food and service were excellent!

I photographed a wedding here over the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the venue, staff and catering. The event coordinator, Alec, was attentive and helpful to all parties. The staff did a great job decorating and preparing for the event and the food, from what I saw and experienced, was excellent. The hall where the reception was was beautiful and rustic and provided an excellent backdrop and scene for our work.

Great experience every time! Got married here in 2011 and always stop by for dinner and a visit to the bakery. The clam chowder is superb and anything in the bakery is worth a try.
