Opened in 1771 by Colonel Ebenezer Crafts, the Publick House Historic Inn offers a charming and historical stay. The inn was used during the American Revolution as a training ground for soldiers and rumor has it that George Washington even stopped by. In fact, Publick House has always been an inn and restaurant except during World War II when it was used by the army. Not overly impressed with food. The waitress tried her best to compensate for that. As for the experience, that is my niece with us, Jessica. She lost her Mom and my sister to cancer 7 years ago. I think it has been tough on her because a mother is always the best advocate for their child....Cheryle and I could never fill her shoes. Best to leave it at that
Great place! Staff is super helpful! The coordinator even found me when some of my things were left in the hallway. Fantastic food!
What a great place!!! Cozy and quiet with beautiful scenery! The dinner was great and the prices were great! Would definitely come back!!
On Sunday evening, August 27, I had the honor of photographing the Taste of the Last Green Valley event. Not only was the setting just perfect for a farm to table event, but the wait staff was amazing! It was a five course, small plate dinner and everything ran like clockwork. Most impressive!! Have been going to the bake shop since I was a child. The fig squares were my favorite followed by Joe Froggers. The fig bar recipe got changed last year and though good I liked the old recipe better. Very prompt response to my message indicates that I can special order the old recipe! Life is back in balance!

August 17, 2017. Have a ladies luncheon here every other month. We all love the charm of this old inn, and always enjoy our lunch. Might be nice to change up the menu, but not a complaint. The grounds, seasonally, are spectacular. *****
Had a wonderful time in Sturbridge MA. Stayed at the Publick House. Beautiful venue!! Food was abundant and most delicious. The Bake Shop is to die for!!! The grounds are planted with an array of flowers and immaculately groomed. Would highly recommend it!
Great dinner with Seamus as our waiter. We split a pot roast dinner , and the beef was fork tender . Topped off meal with Blueberry Cream Pie. Crust was so flaky and the pie was fabulous. Oh yeah, the bun basket was to die for ! We live in MI and head this way a few times a year. We will be back.
