About this business

Opened in 1771 by Colonel Ebenezer Crafts, the Publick House Historic Inn offers a charming and historical stay. The inn was used during the American Revolution as a training ground for soldiers and rumor has it that George Washington even stopped by. In fact, Publick House has always been an inn and restaurant except during World War II when it was used by the army. Guests can decide whether to stay in the historic building of Publick House or in one of the newer buildings like Country Lodge which is located in an apple orc... read more

Ate at the Tap Room. Service was amazing and food was reasonably priced with large portions. We had the leg of lamb and prime rib with salad and dessert. Salad alone was a meal! Could not finish dessert because I was so full. Presentation of food and service from our waiter was excellent. There was no wait between courses. Four weddings taking place in the Inn at the time but you would never have guessed. Ambience was old style inn with plenty of comforts, including the food.

We found the place very charming. Our wait staff was very attentive. I had the baked scrod and it was cooked perfectly.

Having spent almost $400.00 on what I call sub-par food leads me to believe I won't be back for a while. To start the lights were glaring and we had to ask the people at the next table if they could switch their seats so that we could pull a chair out at our table for my mother to sit down. Our waiter was less than enthused about being there but the worst part was the food. I orders an end cut of prime rib. I do this because the flavor and crispiness of the meat is to be savored. My meat was grey on the outside as if it were... read more

We just left from there. We were told a 15 minute wait... And got seated in 30. Not so bad... Sometimes that happens. But then we sat for 25 minutes without a single person acknowledging we were there. We walked out... and still not a single person acknowledged us. Heard this place is great. It's too bad... I will never go back.

One of my favorite venues to shoot photo + video at! Check out the Bake Shop as well! They have the most scrumptious treats! If you wanted to check out a recent wedding I here check out @SilverPixStudios on fb or Instagram!

Loved our stay, wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely come back again. Staff was amazing, that bakery is worth it alone. Thank you for a wonderful time.
